Scott Priester ready for 2012 – Plans to continue his ‘Double-Duty!’
Scott Priester piloted the Dionise owned no. 15 on a regular basis at the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. He would finish seventh in the final track championship standings – Rick Rarer Photo
Rimersburg, Pennsylvania native and Western Pennsylvania sprint car racing veteran, Scott Priester, waits patiently for the start of the 2012 short track season. Although Priester did not have the results that he had hoped for last season, his anxiousness and drive still exists – and are guaranteed to be displayed in the coming months.
Scott played ‘double duty’ for most of the twenty-eleven season; competing on a weekly basis at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania on Saturday’s; while also competing on a semi-regular basis at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania. Priester piloted the familiar pink and purple, Martha Dionise owned no. 15 at Mercer on Saturday’s, while utilizing his own equipment during other racing opportunities. The former Challenger Raceway Track Champion ended his 2011 season with a seventh place performance in the overall Mercer points chase; while also finishing inside the top 15 of the final Lernerville standings. Although the plans for 2012 have not been completely finalized for Scott Priester, it is certain that one will find the Fully Injected teammate in an A-main lineup sooner or later.

“Not sure what the 15 (Martha Dionise owned) will be doing just yet…” explained Scott, “I plan on talking to her soon to see what she wants to do.”
Priester’s intentions for 2012 consist of traveling to different area venues to compete, instead of staying stationary and running for one particular points championship.
“As of now, no plan to run for points anywhere….we just plan to pick and choose a schedule…but you never know, that could change also”
With the holiday season in full swing, it is now only a matter of time before we will be firing engines again and kicking off the new short track season.

Donny Schatz and Tracy Hines each picked up a Western World Championship this weekend at USA Raceway in Tuscon, Arizona. The 44th Annual Kronik Energy Drinks Western World Championships kicked off Wednesday night with practice; and ended last night with the crowning of three champions.
Donny Schatz took home a $15,000 top prize after winning the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour portion of the event. Former ASCS National Champion, Jason Johnson, finished second; while Thursday night preliminary winner, Sammy Swindell, finished third. Swindell and Schatz traded the lead 4 times in the 30 lap Western World finale. Schatz took the lead on lap 26 for the final time, and held on to capture his second consecutive Western World Championship. Friday night preliminary winner, Brad Sweet, finished 5th.

In the non-wing Canyon Region portion of the Western World Championships, Tracy Hines edged Broken Arrow, Oklahoma native, Brady Bacon, for the $5,000 win. Hines held off the defending Western World champion by leading the last 9 laps of the 30 lap contest. Bacon held on for 2nd; followed by Bud Kaeding, Jerry Coons Jr., and Casey Shuman.
Shane Stewart: 2011 Lucas Oil ASCS National Champion – Tim Aylwin Photo
The third champion of the night was crowned when Shane Stewart clinched his 2nd Lucas Oil ASCS presented by K&N Filters national championship. Stewart barely held off New Mexico native, Johnny Herrera, for the title; as only 1 point separated them in the championship chase when the evening was complete. Stewart’s wild crash on Thursday night, combined with his 14th place finish last night, was just enough to edge Herrera for the title. Brady Bacon finished the season third in the national standings; with Jeff Swindell, and Gary Wright, rounding out the top 5!
