Tony Stewart Racing’s Levi Jones To Undergo Season-Ending Surgery Chris Windom Named Replacement Driver for TSR’s USAC Sprint Car

Tony Stewart Racing’s Levi Jones To Undergo Season-Ending Surgery
Chris Windom Named Replacement Driver for TSR’s USAC Sprint Car

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 31, 2011) – Levi Jones, the five-time and reigning United States Auto Club (USAC) National Sprint Car champion, will undergo season-ending surgery on Tuesday to repair two herniated discs in his neck. While a full recovery is expected, the 12-week rehabilitation period will not allow for Jones to finish out the 2012 season, where he has competed in the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car and TRAXXAS Silver Crown divisions for Tony Stewart Racing (TSR).

“This is something I was hoping could wait until the end of the year, but when two different surgeons tell me that I needed it done within two weeks, there was only one thing I could do,” said Jones, who was leading the point standings in the USAC Sprint Car division and ranked fourth in USAC Silver Crown points. “I didn’t need to be hard-headed and ignore what was wrong any longer. We’re going to get it fixed and be better for the next 30 years of my life.”

TSR has tabbed USAC driver Chris Windom to pilot the No. 20 Chevrolet Performance/Curb Records/Eagle for Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing for the final 13 USAC Sprint Car races of 2012. Windom finished second to Jones in last year’s USAC Sprint Car championship. The Canton, Ill., native will make his debut in the No. 20 Chevy Performance/ Curb Records/ Eagle on Saturday at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track.

“I’m very excited for this incredible opportunity,” said the 21-year-old Windom. “I know I’m trying to fill some incredibly big shoes. I can’t thank everyone at Tony Stewart Racing enough for giving me the chance to go out and run really well the rest of the season. My goal is to help bring another championship to TSR. Hopefully, it doesn’t take long for me to get on the same page with the guys. We have a lot of tracks coming up where I enjoy racing. I’m optimistic things will go well right away and we can get some wins to finish out the year.”

Windom currently ranks 11th in USAC Sprint Car points and has posted a pair of victories in 2012 after scoring six in 2011 when he pushed Jones to his unprecedented fifth USAC Sprint Car title. Windom will attempt to deliver a seventh USAC Sprint Car title to team owner Tony Stewart, as Jones won championships for TSR in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011, while J.J. Yeley (2003) and Josh Wise (2006) secured the first two titles for TSR.

“Chris Windom is a great racecar driver,” Jones said. “He’s the guy that hung closest to me in any of my championship runs, so he’s got the ability to do great things in a car. He’ll work seamlessly with everyone at TSR and I’m sure will win some races. I’ll be rooting for him every time out.”

The status of a replacement driver for the No. 10 Chevrolet Performance/Curb Records USAC Silver Crown Series entry for Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing has not been determined.

Bobby East will continue to compete in all remaining 2012 USAC Silver Crown Series events for TSR in the No. 22 Chevrolet Performance/Curb Records entry for Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing.

Friday’s All Star Night Before The 50 feature will go 30 laps in distance and pay $5,000 to win with the final race of the season for the AB Auto Glass late models also on the card with the naming of the 2012 division champion to be learned.

In addition, the All Stars Eastern Region Champion, determined by the outcome of the 50 event, will pocket a hefty $20,000.

And all of that means if one driver leads every lap of the Tuscarora 50 and also earns the All Stars East Region crown, he’ll go home with over $32,000!

Antioch Speedway Hosts World of Outlaws on Monday, Sept. 10
Kinser claimed the inaugural event at the action-packed, 3/8-mile track last season

ANTIOCH, Calif. – Aug. 30, 2012 – After a successful audition at Antioch Speedway last year, the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series heads back to the 3/8-mile track this season.
The Outlaws will compete at the facility on Monday, Sept. 10, to wrap up the California Outlaw Speedweek, which features five races in as many days at three different tracks.

“I expect us to come back in there and have a good car again,” said Sammy Swindell, who set the track record of 11.563 seconds last season. “Since that was the first time there we’ll know a little more about what we need to do when we get there this time.”

Steve Kinser won the action-packed event, which featured a variety of problems for cars battling for the lead. Swindell’s engine shut off after colliding with a car in traffic. Lucas Wolfe spun out amid trouble in traffic after leading the first 11 laps. Craig Dollansky assumed the lead, but ended by flipping shortly after being passed for the top spot by Kinser.

“It’s actually quite exciting,” Kerry Madsen said. “Obviously it’s got its unique challenges, so looking for a good result there.”

Tickets can be ordered online by clicking WorldofOutlaws.com/tickets or by calling 877-395-8606.

Justin Whitesell Ready For Three Days Of Action During Labor Day Weekend!

Austintown, OH – 8/30/12 – 305/Outlaw Sprint Warrior competitor and Team Fully Injected member, Justin Whitesell, is ready for three nights of action this Labor Day weekend at three different Western Pennsylvania ovals. ‘The Man From Austintown’ will have an opportunity to earn victories at Lernerville Speedway, Mercer Raceway Park, and Sportsmans Speedway this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; all of which are tracks that he has made appearances at during some part of the 2012 season. Whitesell, who pilots the familiar FullyInjected.com/Superior Auto Body, 5.3 liter GM powered no. 17 sprint car, shows great enthusiasm about the upcoming weekend, and hopes to make victory lane appearances at all three dirt ovals!

“It’s going to be a great weekend!” explained Justin Whitesell, “We are anxious to get back to Lernerville…we want to kick-off the weekend in a positive manner so hopefully we can get a win down there tomorrow with the 305′s…such a great facility and always a packed house…really excited to get back there!”

On Friday night, August 31st, Justin Whitesell will be in action at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania for the 305 portion of the Friday night program. The All-Star Circuit of Champions ’410′ sprinters are in town for their usual fall appearance, and Lernerville Speedway has invited all Outlaw Sprint Warrior and 305 sprint car teams to be a part of the evening’s program. The 305/Outlaw Sprint Warrior teams will have a complete, separate show on Friday night; which will also allow the division drivers to catch a glimpse of the Sarver oval before the annual DIRTcar Roundup at the end of the season.

On Saturday night, September 1st, Justin Whitesell will return to familiar stomping grounds for an opportunity to compete against the Patriot Sprint Tour. The Patriot Sprint Tour, which is a ’360′ sprint car touring series that spends a great deal of their schedule in New York and Canada, will be making a stop at the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania on Saturday evening, September 1st; displaying loads of regional talent and great, wheel-to-wheel action. Whitesell, who owns two wins at the Mercer oval during 305/Outlaw Sprint Warrior competition, will compete against the invading ’360′ travelers; hoping to make another ‘MRP’ victory lane appearance, and snag the $2,000 top prize!

“Saturday night is going to be interesting!” said Whitesell about competing with the 360 sprint cars, “We are still going to be under powered against the 360 guys but we know the track better than any of them…hopefully our knowledge and experience can make up for the lack of horsepower!”

Whitesell’s Labor Day weekend tour of Western Pennsylvania will come to end at Sportsmans Speedway in Knox, Pennsylvania on Sunday evening, September 2nd. The Austintown, Ohio native has one win at the facility already in 2012 during 305/Outlaw Sprint Warrior competition, and looks to close out the Sportsmans season with another victory lane appearance this Sunday.

All-Stars Invade Lernerville Speedway This Friday Night!

All Star Sprints set to invade this Friday, August 31
along with 305 Sprints & Sportsman/Stocks

Plenty of Action left of the 2012 schedule through September & October

Sarver, PA (August 29, 2012) Led by a triumvirate of former Track Champions, the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints are scheduled to roll into Sarvertown this Friday Night to headline the final Fast Friday of the 2012 season before we switch gears to September Saturday Nights.  The All Star Sprints will headline the event with support from the 305 Sprints that call Mercer Raceway Park and Dog Hollow Speedway home and our bread & butter division; the Millerstown Pic-A-Part DIRTcar Sportsman.

1993 Track Champion Tim Shaffer, 1991 Track Champion Dale Blaney and 2010 Track Champion Danny Holtgraver will carry the flag for the travelling All Stars.  Shaffer leads the overall All Star Point Standings, while Blaney leads the Ohio Region Points.  Shaffer also recently reached the 50 win milestone with the All Stars and is sixth all time in All Star Wins.  Shaffer is the two-time defending event winner and has won three of the last four All Star Races at the Action Track.  Blaney is second in series wins with 86 behind the great Kenny Jacobs and won the spring All Star race at Lernerville in 2010.

Last week’s Ti22 Sprint feature winner Danny Holtgraver won his first All Star Race at Attica in June during Ohio Speedweeks and is fifth in Ohio Region Points/eighth in overall All Star Points.  Fellow Lernerville young gun Brandon Matus also notched his first career All Star win this summer at Sharon Speedway.

Seeing Holtgraver and Matus win their first All Star features has local driver and All Star traveler Pete Miller III hungrier than ever and scoring his first All Star win at his home track would be a huge accomplishment for the ever improving hotshoe.  Miller is currently seventh in the overall All Star Point standings.

As usual, the All Stars have seen a variety of feature winners during the 2012 tour.  Shaffer and Blaney lead the series in wins, but stars like Daryn Pittman (winner of the most recent All Star race at nearby Mercer Raceway Park), Stevie Smith, David Gravel, Paul McMahan, Greg Wilson, Travis Philo and Cap Henry will all be gunning for a $5,000 payday!

Recently crowned 2012 Budweiser Track Champion Kevin Schaeffer plans to make his Lernerville swan song Friday Night in the family-owned #9.  Schaeffer has been a fixture in the Ti22 Sprint division for over a decade and walks away, (for now anyway), with an impressive four Track Titles to his credit; a testament to the team’s consistency and care for their equipment.

2011 Track Champion Carl Bowser, recent first time feature winner Eric “Turkey” Williams, Jack Sodeman Jr., Brian Ellenberger, Brandon Spithaler, Scott Priester and Brent Matus are all expected to be in competition with $5,000 on the line to the feature winner.  Future Hall of Famers Rod George and Ed Lynch Jr. could also be in action defending their home turf; both with multiple All Star wins on their resumes.

The 305 Sprints look identical to their 410 big brothers, but are powered by a smaller engine.  Guy Griffin won the 305 Sprint feature last year, but rising star Justin Whitesell logged some laps with the Ti22 Sprints last Friday Night; scoring a 12th place finish and will be looking to make his Sheetz Victory Lane debut.

Corey McPherson will make his first appearance as Track Champion leading the Pic-A-Part Sportsman in a cash & carry race that will act as a final tune-up for the $2,000-to-win Sportsman/Stock Spectacular during Autumn-Motive Fest 2012 next Saturday, September 8.  Championship runner-up Jim Fosnaught will be looking for his second career win, while recent feature winners AJ Flick and Chris Schneider will look to make return visits to Sheetz Victory Lane.  Former Track Champions Joe Kelley, Bob Egley and Bob Lipinski will all be gunning for their first feature win on 2012.

Tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors and $15 for students 11-17 years old.  And as always, kids 10 & under are admitted FREE into general admission.  Gates open at 5:00 with UNOH All Star Time Trials scheduled for 7:15.

As mentioned above, after this Friday, we’ll switch to Saturday Nights in September starting with the aforementioned Autumn-Motive Fest 2012 on Saturday, September 8 featuring the $2,000-to-win Sportsman/Stock Spectacular and Round Two of the $1,000-to-win Enduro 100!  Saturday, September 15 is the “Back to School” Bus & Kid’s Bike races, along with the Senior Series Stocks, Figures 8s and the first and only Demo Derby of 2012!

The World of Outlaws will cap off the weekly portion of the 2012 season with the $10,000-to-win Commonwealth Clash on Saturday, September 22.  If you missed the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30s, don’t miss the Commonwealth Clash!  Tickets are on sale 24/7 at www.Lernerville.com and all advanced ticket sales include a free fan pit pass upgrade!

The season will come to a big finish with the three-day DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, October 25-26-27.  Ten divisions will compete during the final race weekend of 2012, featuring $3,000-to-win finales for the Ti22 Sprints, Precise Late Models and Diehl/BRP Mods.  The Sportsman/Stocks, UEMS/UMP Modifieds, FASTRAK Northeast Late Models, 305 Sprints, Mod Lites and 4-Cylinders will all be in action plus Round 3 of the $1,000-to-win Enduro 100 to cap off the event and 2012 season on Saturday Night.  More detailed information about the DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede will be posted and released next week.

Lanigan Back On Top At Little Valley With The World of Outlaws!

Lanigan Outruns Richards In Inaugural World of Outlaws Late Model Series A-Main At Little Valley Speedway

Record 14th Victory Of 2012, 40th Of Career Moves Lanigan Back Ahead Of Richards On Tour’s Alltime Win List

By Kevin Kovac, WoO LMS P.R. Director

LITTLE VALLEY, NY – Aug. 29, 2012 – Well, that ‘slump’ didn’t last long.

Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., snapped a modest two-race winless streak on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series Wednesday night, rolling to a runaway victory before a standing-room-only crowd in the national tour’s inaugural 50-lap A-Main at Little Valley Speedway.

The 42-year-old star raced off the outside pole starting spot to lead the entire distance. He turned back a brief mid-race threat from Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., and then pulled away following a lap-32 restart to defeat the returning two-time WoO LMS champion by a commanding 2.231 seconds.

Lanigan’s triumph was his record 14th of the 2012 season and the 40th of his career in World of Outlaws competition, moving him out of a tie with Richards for the top spot on the circuit’s alltime win list.

“I think we’re bouncing that most wins (record) back and forth,” said Lanigan, who watched Richards tie him for career top-winner status with a victory on Aug. 18 at Merritt Raceway in Lake City, Mich. “We’ll see who comes up with it.”

Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga., finished a distant third, nearly a half-lap behind Lanigan on the sprawling half-mile fairgrounds oval. Smith started from the pole position but was outgunned by Lanigan at the initial green flag and lost second to Richards on lap nine.

Ron Davies of Warren, Pa., a 54-year-old veteran who won the most recent dirt Late Model feature run at Little Valley, settled for a fourth-place finish after starting third. Sixth-starter Vic Coffey of Caledonia, N.Y., who won the only dirt Late Model feature of his career in 2007 at Little Valley, briefly grabbed fourth from Davies on a lap-16 restart but ceded the spot back two circuits later and went on to place fifth.

Of the top five finishers, only Davies did not drive a Rocket Chassis machine. He was behind the wheel of an MB Customs mount.

Lanigan, of course, raved about the performance of his Cornett-powered Rocket car after scoring a $10,650 checkered flag that pushed his 2012 WoO LMS earnings to an astounding $284,650.

“The car was just awesome,” said Lanigan, who extended his points lead to 172 over ninth-place finisher Rick Eckert of York, Pa., with just eight events remaining on the 2012 schedule. “The carburetor stumbled a little bit in the corners and kind of screwed me up, but man, that thing would run down the straightaways. It’s just an unbelievable motor.”

Lanigan, whose record streak of six consecutive wins ended with quiet finishes of fifth and eight during the tour’s Michigan doubleheader on Aug. 17-18, kept Richards from scoring a second straight victory. Richards, 24, took advantage of an open spot on his NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule to enter his third WoO LMS event in a row.

“We were softer (compound) with the left-rear and right-front tire than Darrell and I thought we had something on him,” said Richards, who started fourth. “They said we were a half-second faster (than Lanigan) when I got to second and he got hung up in some traffic during the first green flag run. We caught him and I felt like if we could’ve got by him we could’ve held him off even though he was better at the end, but we couldn’t get by him and then our tires started giving out.

“We were trying hard. It definitely wasn’t from lack of effort. But Darrell and his guys were really good tonight and we just gambled on tires and it didn’t work out. It was still good enough to run second, so we’re happy.”

Smith, 47, registered his third-place finish with a Rocket car making its debut run.

“We just had some brand-new car blues,” said Smith. “We built this car after Michigan, and if we would’ve got a shakedown night at Winchester or Selinsgrove (the Virginia and Pennsylvania tracks that had WoO LMS events rained out last weekend) we would’ve been more prepared here.

“We had some header problems that weren’t sealed for hot laps and qualifying, so we had to get all that fixed. We had a fifth-coil come loose in qualifying. Everything was good in the heat race, but we had an oil line come loose about lap 30 in the feature so I was dropping oil pressure and I had to just hold my spot and settle for third.

“But I feel good to be traveling with these three (Lanigan and Richards) right now,” he added. “It’s good to be in company with them and get on the podium with ‘em. Hopefully we’ll get our night. Josh ain’t here to stay, so maybe it can be between me and Darrell at a race coming up.”

Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, Ga., made a late-race charge to finish sixth, advancing five positions in nine laps after the race’s third and final caution flag flew on lap 32 for a turn-one tangle involving Dan Stone of Thompson, Pa., and Bump Hedman of Sugar Grove, Pa. Bub McCool of Vicksburg, Miss., was the last driver to fall to Clanton and finished seventh. Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis., finished eighth after taking the final restart in sixth place; Rick Eckert of York, Pa., cracked the top 10 late to finish ninth; and Mike Knight of Ripley, N.Y., was 10th.

Twenty-nine cars entered the event, which was run on a cool summer evening.

Richards was fastest in Ohlins Shocks Time Trials with a lap of 21.726 seconds. It was his second fast-time honor of 2012.

Heat winners were Richards, Coffey and Davies, and John Lobb of Frewsburg, N.Y., won the B-Main.

The next action for the WoO LMS comes on Saturday night (Sept. 1) with the running of the ‘Black Diamond 125′ at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, W.Va., The unique $150,000-plus event includes a pair of 40-lap preliminary features paying $10,000 to win each and the 45-lap ‘Sweet Sixteen’ finale – for the top eight finishers in each prelim – that offers a $20,000 top prize.

Swindell Sails to Win No. 11 with Dominant Performance at Grays Harbor
Dollansky finishes second to maintain World of Outlaws championship points lead

ELMA, Wash. – Aug. 29, 2012 – Things are getting back to normal for Sammy Swindell.

He found himself in Victory Lane for the second consecutive World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event and the third time in the last five races on Wednesday night at the scenic Grays Harbor Raceway, which hosted its first Outlaws race since 2008.

It was his series-leading 11th victory of the season and moved him to a tie for second place in the championship standings – only 39 points behind leader Craig Dollansky.

“This is the best we’ve got so hopefully it just carries on through the rest of the year,” said Swindell, who hadn’t won at Grays Harbor Raceway since 1997.

“We did have maybe six, eight weeks there where we weren’t where we needed to be and was struggling some. We found out the reason for that and rectified that, fixed all that stuff and we’re back to where we were at the first part of the year.”

Swindell rocketed to the lead on the opening lap from inside the second row and he then led all 30 laps. In fact, Swindell lapped up to 11th place in a feature that was slowed by four cautions.

And as dominant as Swindell was, Dollansky never settled for the runner-up position. After four cautions during the first half of the event, the final 18 laps were caution free. The duo entered traffic on lap 17.

Dollansky began slowly reeling Swindell in through traffic in the final half-dozen laps before what appeared to be his break with two laps remaining. Swindell was dramatically slowed on the cushion while trying to lap Henry Van Dam. The momentum loss allowed Dollansky to close within a car length.

“I felt like we had a pretty good car in lapped traffic and I would have liked that race to keep going five more laps or so,” Dollansky said.

Swindell maintained his advantage in the closing laps to secure the victory with Joey Saldana edging Donny Schatz for the final spot on the podium.

“It’s a good, solid night,” Saldana said. “To start fourth and finish third, especially with these guys, that’s good. (I) definitely want to get a win so we’ve got to keep digging.”

Steve Kinser finished fifth. Kerry Madsen charged from 11th to sixth and Shane Stewart from 12th to seventh. Cody Darrah placed eighth and Jac Haudenschild earned the KSE Hard Charger Award for driving from 18th to ninth. Chad Kemenah rounded out the top 10.

Joe Martin and Colton Flinner Ready For Jook George Memorial Classic!

Pittsburgh, PA – 8/29/12 – Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will host the annual ‘Jook George Memorial Classic’ this Saturday evening, September 1st; featuring a 40 lap, $2,012-to-win main event for the Brougher’s Machine Shop Pro-Lates, and incoming FASTRAK/Pro-Late Model teams. Team Fully Injected Pro-Late/FASTRAK late model stars, Colton Flinner and Joe Martin, both plan to be in action Saturday night; each looking to snag the $2,012 top prize, along with a year’s worth of bragging rights. Colton Flinner is the current Brougher’s Machine Shop Pro-Lates point leader at the Imperial, Pennsylvania oval. Flinner has one win at the big half-mile in 2012, and will look to secure win #2 this weekend. Joe Martin, a Ringgold, Pennsylvania native and former FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series regular, also has one win at ‘Dirt’s Monster Half-Mile’ in 2012, and hopes to use that momentum to catapult his familiar ’55′ to the front this Saturday night! The prestigious Pro-Late/FASTRAK late model Labor Day weekend event will be co-headlined by a full evening lineup of Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway weekly division action.

Colton Flinner in action at PPMS earlier this season!

Colton Flinner is the defending Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway Pro-Late track champion, and hopes to secure his second title this weekend. The Allison Park, Pennsylvania native has had more than an ‘up-and-down’ season in 2012; suffering from bad pill draws and tough feature inversions on what seems like a regular basis. Flinner hopes to use this weekend’s ‘Jook George Memorial Classic’ as a year ending statement, and capture two season-ending goals in one weekend. The familiar black and orange ’75′ has an 11 point advantage in the current track standings over Western Pennsylvania rival, Kyle Lukon, and could secure the 2012 track championship with a solid finish this weekend.

“Winning this race would be very special to us” explained Flinner, “Jook was a great person and to win a memorial event in honor of him would be huge…just a really important weekend.”

Joe Martin in action earlier this year!

Western Pennsylvania FASTRAK late model star, Joe Martin, has only finished outside of the top 10 once during his last ten starts. The former FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series regular has four wins in 2012, and over 15 top-5 finishes! The Joe Martin Motorsports ’55′ has visited Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway victory lane once already this season, and hopes to make a second appearance this Saturday night, September 1st, during the annual ‘Jook George Memorial Classic.’ Martin has also picked up wins at Dog Hollow Speedway in Strongstown, Pennsylvania on two separate occasions in 2012, along with earning a win during FASTRAK Northeast competition at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio. This weekend’s ‘PPMS’ headliner will help kick-0ff the final stretch of the 2012 season for Joe Martin Motorsports.

“We are really looking forward to this weekend… extremely excited!” said Chuck Martin; Joe Martin’s brother and car chief, “We want to get a win really bad..we have been so close on so many different occasions…it is just time for us to get back to victory lane!”

Pit and Grandstand Admission gates for this Saturday’s racing action will open at 5:00 with the first green flag waving promptly at 7:00PM. Adult Grandstand Admission for Saturday, September 1st is $15.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $14.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $9.00. Wicked City Shootout next for Lucas Oil ASCS

Wicked City Shootout next for Lucas Oil ASCS

Bryan Hulbert – Tulsa, Oklahoma (August 27, 2012) In the days before famous lawmen like Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson, Dodge City, Kansas was known by many as “The Wicked Little City”. Segregated by the railroad tracks otherwise known as the “Deadline”, guns couldn’t be carried north of the tracks but south of those tracks it was wide open so it’s only fitting that Dodge City Raceway Park is south of the tracks.

Absent from Dodge City since 2005, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV makes their return for the inaugural Wicked City Shootout this Saturday September 1st and Sunday September 2nd.

Overall, the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV has crowned two winners, both in 2005. Gary Wright grabbed the inaugural checkered flag on June 16, 2005 with Danny Jennings taking the win the following night.

In the battle for the 2012 season championship, this weekend’s events represent rounds 45 and 46.

Jason Johnson continues to show his dominance, trading the lead with Wayne Johnson for the tenth time this season following Friday’s show at the Salina Highbanks Speedway. Backing that up with another win at I-30 Speedway this past Saturday the MVT No. 41 currently holds a slim 31 point advantage going into Dodge City.

Suffering a shredded tire that sailed the Outlaw Wings No. 77x into the wall this past Friday at the Salina Highbanks Speedway, Wayne Johnson fought back Saturday at I-30 Speedway with a sixth place finish after starting sixteenth.

Having finished in the top ten seventeen time in his last twenty outings with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV, Brady Bacon continues to ride third in tour standings. Johnny Herrera reclaimed the fourth after Brad Loyet saw his night end early at I-30. Suffering a flip off the top of turn four in the opening laps of the A-Main at the ¼ mile oval, Loyet suffered his second DNF of the season in A-Main competition.

Tony Bruce Jr. currently sits sixth in tour standings following Saturday’s runner up performance at I-30 Speedway; a nice rebound after an engine expired under the hood of the Eagle Chassis No. 18 Friday night. Seth Bergman holds seventh with Logan Forler eighth. Gary Wright rides ninth with Dustin Morgan currently making up the drivers in the top ten.

The 59 th annual Gold Cup kicks off the Speedweek Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 6-8, at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. The teams will then head approximately 130 miles southeast toward the coast for the event at Calistoga Speedway before wrapping up the California schedule on Monday, Sept. 10, at Antioch Speedway in Antioch.

“I’ve always enjoyed running there at Calistoga,” said Sammy Swindell, who won World of Outlaws features in 1999, 1997 and 1990. “We’ve had a lot of wins there and it’s a nice place to visit, too.”

Patriot Sprints Headline Mercer Raceway Park Program September 1!

Mercer, PA (August 28, 2012): Mercer Raceway Park will host its final Sprint Car special of the 2012 season this Saturday, September 1, when the Patriot Sprint Tour comes to town! The program will include the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds, Ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors, Precise Racing Products Stock Cars, Big Daddy’s Speed Center/Rock Concrete Modified Lites and Mini Stocks. This unique event will be presented courtesy of Bonnell’s Collision Center and Bonnell’s Auto Sales. Fans will remember that Scott Bonnell was a track regular and a proponent of 360 Sprint Car racing before suffering career-ending injuries in an accident at a New York track.

Mercer Raceway Park will be the southern-most stopping point for the Patriot Sprint Tour, which is based in the Empire State of New York. Nonetheless, plenty of travelers are expected, as the series will be making another Keystone State appearance before heading back across the border.

Bryan Howland, a four-time Patriot champion, currently leads the series standings. Behind him, there is a close battle for second involving Scott Kreutter and Tim Kelly. Tom Wickham and George Suprick round out the top five. They will all battle tooth and nail for precious points!

Dr. Steve Collins is expected to have his car repaired and ready for action after taking a spill in last week’s Western Pennsylvania Championship, which was won by Daryn Pittman. Plus, the most recent series winner, Justin Barger, should be on hand.

Mike Lutz, the popular pilot of Jim Chappell’s 410 Sprint, will bring his own 360 Sprint in an effort to defend the home turf. Everything that he earns with that machine is used to support Autism research and to bring awareness to Autism.

In addition, Adam Anderson, of Meadville, will also be racing against the touring drivers. He is also graciously making his shop available for the Patriot drivers in case they need to make repairs before their next event.

Jimmy Morris, hot off his win in the Outlaw Sprint Warriors, will be looking to narrow the gap in the championship points even further. He currently sits behind leader Joe McEwen and Rob Felix. Another top finish will set him up nicely for the double points event coming up on September 8.

Rusty Moore will look to pad his points lead in his quest for a second title in the highly competitive Stock Car class. Rob Curtis, Mark Marcucci and Steve Longwell, Jr. will also be trying to do the same in the 358 Modifieds, Modified Lites and Mini Stocks, respectively.

The Kids Bike races will take place on Spetember 1, courtesy of Ray’s Racing Collectibles and Approved Toilet Rentals. All children must have helmets to be able to compete. All children will get free milk, courtesy of the Pennsylvania Dairy Princess. Plus, Coca-Cola will presnt a free bicycle to a lucky child in the stands.

Were that not enough, the first 100 fans passing through the gates will all get a free mug, courtesy of Pizza Joe’s and Mercer Raceway Park!

The gates will open at 4 p.m., and racing will start at 7 p.m.

The special event ticket pricing will be in effect for this program. Adult admission will be $15, seniors $13, and students $7. Children ages 8 and under are free, as always. A family can enjoy this holiday race for $32. Their pass will be good for two adults and up to four minors. Pit passes will be $30.

If you cannot make it to the track this weekend, the Park will present Saturday Night Live! racing on September 8. There will be double points that night in all six divisions, and the track championships WILL be decided that night. You won’t want to miss the thrilling climax to regular season action. There will be plenty of other promotions as well, including American Cancer Society night, and the annual Meet Your Heroes meet and greet session! A special guest is also expected. Cowboy Brian Steinman will be back at the track for the first time since his accident at another area speedway.

Jared Miley Set For A $63,000 Weekend!

Jared Miley Set For A $63,000 Weekend!
www.fullyinjected.com

South Park, PA – 8/28/12 -South Park, Pennsylvania native, Jared Miley, is set for a huge weekend of super late model competition this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – August 31st, September 1st and 2nd; as a $63,000 possibility is on the line for the Jared Miley Racing/Colussy Chevrolet/Forcey Coal/Octane Graphix/FullyInjected.com ‘H1.’ Miley, who is the 2012 Lernerville Speedway track champion, will spend three days at two different West Virginia ovals this upcoming weekend; competing against three separate ‘top-notch’ dirt late model touring series. A Labor Day weekend in West Virginia never looked so promising for the South Park, Pennsylvania native.

On Friday evening, August 31st, Miley, and the entire Jared Miley Racing operation, will head south to Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia, for the $8,000-to-win UFo sanctioned super late model event. Miley has been victorious at the Tyler County, West Virginia bullring in the past; winning two consecutive Earl Hill Memorial super late model events. The Jared Miley Racing/Colussy Chevrolet team will look to use that recent Tyler County Speedway success to capture a victory this Friday night during UFo action. Of course, this Friday’s UFO program will only give drivers and fans a small taste of what’s in store the rest of the weekend.

Jared Miley will then return to Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia on Saturday evening, September 1st, for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned ‘Black Diamond 125′ worth $30,000! If a race team is able to earn a victory during their respective $10,000-to-win, 40 lap semi feature, and also earn a victory during the $20,000-to-win, 45 lap ‘Talented Twenty’ main event, then they will not only make a hefty $30,000, but also earn the Black Diamond Trophy! The event offers a one-of-a-kind experience for the drivers and fans, and will include a full program of racing for the Word of Outlaws Late Model Series competitors on Saturday night. Miley will face-off against some of the nation’s top super late model talent at the 3rd Annual ‘Black Diamond 125;’ which is also expected to have a car count climb towards the 100 mark. For more information on this event, check out it’s online home here!

On Sunday evening, September 2nd, Jared Miley Racing will wrap up their Labor Day weekend by returning to action at another high-paying, historical event. The 44th Annual ‘Hillbilly 100,’ sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, will take shape at I-77 Raceway Park in Ripley, West Virginia, and will offer a $25,000 top prize! The newly renovated and remodeled I-77 Raceway Park will host more of the nation’s top super late model drivers this Sunday; including such names at Scott Bloomquist, Jimmy Owens, Steve Francis, and Don O’Neal. The $25,000-to-win spectacle will go down as the biggest race in I-77 Raceway Park’s history, with Miley looking to add his name to that record setting headline. Check out more on this event at www.lucasdirt.com!

If the Jared Miley Raceway/Colussy Chevrolet/FullyInjected.com program is able to put together a successful weekend in the state of West Virginia, it would only add to the team’s dominating 2012 season statistics. Miley has earned 10 wins in 2012, with half of those being recorded at Lernerville Speedway, alone. The team has also recorded almost thirty top 5 finishes in 2012, as well as well over thirty top 10′s! This Labor Day weekend will surely do nothing but boost JMR’s season stats!

Stay tuned for JMR’s weekend progress and results – right here at www.fullyinjected.com!

Holtgraver Will Roll With The All-Stars This Weekend For Three Events!

Holtgraver Will Roll With The All-Stars This Weekend For Three Events!
www.fullyinjected.com

Pittsburgh, PA – 8/28/12 – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native and All-Star Circuit of Champions ‘Ohio Region’ competitor, Danny Holtgraver, will return to ’410′ sprint car competition this Labor Day weekend by competing in three separate All-Star Circuit of Champions sanctioned events, at three different regional ovals, over the course of three days. Holtgraver, and the entire Kargo Quality Cars and Trucks/Alternative Power Sources ‘D4′ operation, will spend this upcoming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Ohio and Pennsylvania; racing  at Lernerville Speedway, Attica Raceway Park, and Wayne County Speedway. All three events will not only offer full All-Star ‘Ohio Region’ points, but also $5,000 pay days!

“I am ready to get back out on the road!” said Holtgraver with lots of enthusiasm, “It’s going to be fun to start the weekend at Lernerville…hopefully we can kick-off with a win in front of our friends and family at Lernerville and use that momentum for Attica and Wayne County…only time will tell!”

The Kargo Quality Cars and Trucks ‘D4′ team will start the upcoming weekend at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania. Holtgraver is the most recent sprint car winner at the Sarver oval; picking up the non-sanctioned ‘Fab Four’ finale win on Friday evening, August 24th, in dominating fashion. The former Lernerville Speedway track champion started the 25 lap sprint car main event from the front row on Friday evening and never looked back; leading every lap of the last regular season event at the Sarver oval. Hopefully, Holtgraver can use his recent Lernerville Speedway success when the All-Star Circuit of Champions make an appearance in Sarver, Pennsylvania this Friday, August 31st. If Holtgraver is able to defend him home track this Friday night, it would be Holtgraver’s second career All-Star Circuit of Champions victory!

On Saturday evening, September 1st, Danny Holtgraver will return to Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio where he was victorious during All-Star Circuit of Champions competition for the first time in his young career earlier this season. The $5,000-to-win/ All-Star sanctioned event will have Ohio’s best sprint car competitors taking on the familiar All-Star invaders; along with a solid roster of Fremont/Attica Sprint Title competitors to help heat up the action. Holtgraver has lots of experience at Attica Raceway Park, and always loves returning to the always-racey 3/8′s mile oval.

“We love going out to Attica!” explained Holtgraver, “It’s such a fun place to race…and now that we have a big win there under our belts, it’s going to be fun to get back out there and use that confidence to hopefully win ourselves one more!”

Danny Holtgraver’s three-race swing will come to an end on Sunday evening, September 2nd, at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio. The All-Star sanctioned event will also pay $5,000 to the winner, and award full points towards the All-Star Circuit of Champions’ championship. Just like Lernerville Speedway and Attica Raceway Park, this will be the last visit for the All-Stars to the Orrville oval in 2012.

During most recent All-Star Circuit of Champions competition on Saturday, August 25th, the familiar ‘D4′ team, lead by Brian Kemenah, finished second at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania; passing former All-Star Circuit of Champions champion, Tim Shaffer, in the closing laps to secure the runner-up finish. Holtgraver was also able to turn the evening’s fastest time during qualifying time trials. Daryn Pittman would earn the $5,000 pay day.

“It felt good to finish second on Saturday night!” said Holtgraver, “We want to use that momentum for the upcoming weekend and hopefully earn some solid runs and find ourselves up front…I can’t wait to get back to action!”

Coffey Shoots For First-Ever World of Outlaws Late Model Series Win In Tour’s Inaugural Visit To Little Valley Speedway

Wednesday (Aug. 29) Event Brings Series Regular To New York Track Where He Captured The Only Victory Of His Dirt Late Model Career

By Kevin Kovac, WoO LMS P.R. Director

LITTLE VALLEY, NY – Aug. 27, 2012 – Vic Coffey has endured enough heartbreak in his pursuit of an A-Main triumph on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. He’s ready to break down the door to Victory Lane – now.

There might not be a better track for Coffey to take his next shot at a World of Outlaws checkered flag than Little Valley Speedway, which hosts the national tour for the first time on Wednesday night (Aug. 29). The half-mile fairgrounds oval is, of course, the site of the only feature win of Coffey’s dirt Late Model career to date.

“I really like that place,” said Coffey, who captured an unsanctioned dirt Late Model event at Little Valley on Sept. 9, 2007. “I won the first time I ever ran there and we’ve been good every time we’ve been there since then, so I’m definitely looking forward to the Outlaw show. If there’s a track where I feel good about our chances of finally knocking off one of these Outlaw races, it’s Little Valley.”

A 41-year-old racer from Caledonia, N.Y. (about two hours northeast of Little Valley), Coffey enters Wednesday evening’s 50-lap, $10,000-to-win spectacular winless in 139 career WoO LMS A-Main starts. But the tour’s 2008 Rookie of the Year has nearly a half-dozen near-misses on his record, including, most recently, a second-place finish on July 10 at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., after he briefly grabbed the lead with three laps remaining only to be outdueled in lapped traffic by defending WoO LMS champion Rick Eckert of York, Pa. He also finished second in a 2009 event at Brewerton (N.Y.) Speedway after a late caution flag cost him the lead and lost likely victories to misfortune in ’09 at Fayetteville (N.C.) Motor Speedway (last-lap flat tire) and ’11 at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, Ga. (tangle with a lapped car).

“Getting that first World of Outlaws win has been tough,” said Coffey, who ranks eighth in the current WoO LMS points standings as he bids for a career-best performance on the circuit. “It can be frustrating to come so close so many times, but I choose to do this deal with the Outlaws and that obviously makes the wins harder to come by.

“We’ve probably let a few (wins) get away and had some tough luck, but the competition on this series is real good. We feel like when we finally win one, we’ll have earned it.”

Coffey has high hopes for the WoO LMS invasion of Little Valley, a track that happens to fit squarely in his wheel house. Following his ’07 victory, his three ensuing starts over the next couple of seasons yielded a runner-up finish and a pair of fourths.

“For whatever reason, I just seem to go good there,” said Coffey, who chases the WoO LMS as a Sweeteners Plus teammate to 2006 tour champion Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y. “It’s one of those big old flat tracks like I grew up racing (DIRTcar big-block Modifieds) at back home. There’s maybe a little longer straightaway and narrower corners than what I’m used to, but it just seems like one of those longer, flatter tracks that I’ve always been more comfortable on and seem to get around well – places (in New York) like Rolling Wheels, Middletown (Orange County Fair Speedway), even Canandaigua.

“Places like Eldora (Ohio), Tazewell (Tenn.) – those places that got high banking, they never really seem to be my deal. Maybe it’s me, but I just haven’t figured out what works at tracks like that. Flatter, high-speed tracks like Fayetteville, Black Hills and Little Valley seem to be my kind of deal.”

Coffey remembers how easily he found the fast groove around Little Valley in his ’07 debut. While still a DIRTcar big-block Modified regular at the time, he beat some talented dirt Late Model veterans for his milestone triumph.

“I remember getting the lead by actually splitting Bob Close and, I believe, Dick Barton in (turns) three and four,” said Coffey, who began dabbling in the dirt Late Model division in 2001. “I just got to them and saw there was one on the top and one on the bottom, so I just tried the middle. It had some bite and I rolled right through there to get the lead off four.

“That was my last Late Model race of the year. I remember we got home and stripped that car down for the winter, and we found that the rearend spool had three big cracks in it. It wasn’t gonna make it for night two (Little Valley had a second straight night of racing scheduled that year but it was rained out) and it probably barely held on for the one we won. We got lucky we didn’t have a failure that night.”

It’s been a while since Coffey last visited Little Valley, but he’s confident he can recapture the speed he flashed in the past. He just knows he’ll have to show more of it to outrun a talented field of WoO LMS stars that includes McCreadie (three-time winner in ’12); Eckert (three victories); record-setting points leader Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky. (13 wins); 2012 Eldora Dream winner Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, Ga.; Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., who is familiar with Little Valley thanks to numerous appearances there; Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga; Tim Fuller of Watertown, N.Y.; Pat Doar of New Richmond, Wis.; and rookies Bub McCool of Vicksburg, Miss., and Kent Robinson of Bloomington, Ind.

Also expected to compete is two-time WoO LMS champion Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., who will return to his dirt Late Model roots with a break in his NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule; nationally-known standout Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wis.; and Little Valley stalwarts such as 2011 WoO LMS traveler Ron Davies of Warren, Pa., former WoO LMS winner Dick Barton of Ashville, N.Y., Mike Knight of Ripley, N.Y., Rick ‘Boom’ Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., and Bump Hedman of Sugar Grove, Pa.

“We don’t do anything special setup-wise and it seems to work there,” said Coffey. “But it’ll be different with the field of cars that will be there this time. There’s some good local racers that run there, and all of the Outlaw guys will unload and be fast whether they’ve been there before or not. We’ll have our hands full, that’s for sure.

“Hopefully we start off good in qualifying and get in the redraw, and then it takes some of these Outlaw guys just long enough to figure the place out that some of them don’t qualify right up front and they have their work cut out for them.”

Coffey’s prospects are buoyed by his most recent outings on the WoO LMS. He finished a strong third on Aug. 17 at Winston Speedway in Montague, Mich., and set fast time and won a heat race on Aug. 18 at Merritt Raceway in Lake City, Mich., before a busted power-steering pump ended his promising A-Main run.

“We’ve been decent lately,” said Coffey. “We changed some stuff around on our (Rocket) car), and we got a motor back that we had sent out for a rebuild. Bill (Schlieper) at ProPower (in Sullivan, Wis.) made a little cam change and boy, I was really impressed with it last week in Michigan. The thing runs really good and I’m excited to see what it can do on those long straightaways at Little Valley.”

Gates for Little Valley’s midweek program, which also includes a DART Challenge event for the BRP CanAm Late Models and racing for the E-Mod division, are scheduled to open at 1 p.m. Hot laps are set to begin at 6:30 p.m., followed immediately by WoO LMS Ohlins Shocks Time Trials and then racing at 7:15 p.m.

In addition to Little Valley’s historic covered grandstand that boasts comfortable stadium seating, speedway officials have secured additional bleachers to boost capacity for the night to over 4,000.

Fans will enjoy free parking and free camping with hook-ups on the grounds of the facility, which is located at the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds on Rt. 353 in Little Valley, N.Y., just eight miles from the resort town of Ellicottville and seven miles north of the Salamanca exit off Interstate 86.

Admission for the event is $25, with children ages 6-12 charged $15 and kids under six admitted free of charge. Pit passes will cost $35.

USAC SPRINTS HEAD FOR PONTOON BEACH & TERRE HAUTE

CLAUSON TOPS KOKOMO’S “SMACKDOWN,” WINDOM FRIDAY VICTOR

The battle for USAC’s AMSOIL National Sprint Car championship continues this weekend at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill. Friday before moving to the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track for Saturday night’s “Jim Hurtubise Classic.”

The point race has intensified as a result of last weekend’s “Sprint Car Smackdown” three-race extravaganza at the Kokomo (Ind.) Speedway. Defending five-time series champ Levi Jones has returned to the top of the standings, 26 points ahead of Jon Stanbrough, with Dave Darland now just 38 points behind in third. Jones scored a sixth, 10th and 12th in the three Kokomo races, while Stanbrough suffered through a 12th, 14th and 18th and Darland had a second, fourth and fifth.

Stanbrough’s “Smackdown” ended in a grinding crash where he, Robert Ballou and Chad Boespflug all flipped. Ballou was treated and released at a local hospital, while Stanbrough and Boespflug escaped injury.

As a result of the above-referenced accident, Levi Jones and his team were assessed a 25-point penalty and placed on probation for the balance of the 2012 season due to on-track contact deemed to be avoidable and producing a dangerous situation for fellow competitors. The penalties, which are under official appeal by the team, were assessed according to guidelines of USAC competition rule 10.28 regarding unsportsmanlike conduct. No points adjustment will be effected until the appeals process has been completed. The appeals hearing is expected to be conducted later in the month of September.

USAC National Driving Championship point leader and two-champ Bryan Clauson of Noblesville, Ind. starred in the ”Smackdown,” winning Thursday’s 30-lap prelim and Saturday’s $10,000-to-win finale in his CTR-BCI-Mike Curb-Agajanian/Curb Records/R & B Truckers Maxim Fisher. He finished third in Friday’s 30-lap prelim behind winner Chris Windom.

Clauson led the final 25 laps of Saturday’s main event after passing Tracy Hines on lap 16. Hines finished second after winning the specially-formulated “King of the Hill” battle for the pole position. Kevin Thomas Jr. was third, followed by Darland and Kyle Larson.

Darland led the first 16 laps Thursday before Clauson took over. Darland finished second ahead of Chase Stockon, Damion Gardner and Hines. On Thursday Hine sled the first 28 laps before yielding to Windom, who piloted the Bates Commodities Maxim/Advanced Engines entry. Clauson took third ahead of Thomas Meseraull and Darland.

The Kokomo event featured numerous additional posted prizes, including a total of $10,000 in lap prizes, bringing the three-night prize total of over $100,000!

Friday’s race at Tri-City Speedway marks the first appearance of the AMSOIL USAC Sprint Cars there since Josh Wise’s victory in 2006. Bud Kaeding and Daron Clayton have won the two USAC Sprint features held at Terre Haute so far this year, while Chris Windom is the defending winner of the “Jim Hurtubise Classic,” honoring the driver who posted five consecutive Terre Haute sprint wins in 1960, 1961 and 1962.
