Holtgraver’s ‘Down Under’ Campaign with Reeve Kruck Will Launch in Warrnambool on December 20th

Pittsburgh, PA (November 17th, 2014) – Despite ending their short but eventful 2014 campaign on a disappointing note during the Bad Boy Buggies World Finals, Danny Holtgraver and Phoenix Racing are already preparing for their 2015 season debut. Holtgraver, who teamed up with Phoenix Racing in October after a long stint with Hunter Racing, is more than excited to continue his relationship with Tom and Sherry Leidig, and will welcome a few returning sponsors in the process. The ‘59’ team plans to kick off 2015 in Florida; just two days after Holtgraver arrives home from Australia. Their first stop will be in Ocala, Florida where they will join the UNOH All Stars for three full nights of racing at the Bubba Raceway Park on February 5th through 7th.
“Our first three races together were tough…but we’ll put those behind us and prepare for next year…we are pretty excited” said Holtgraver, “I can’t thank Tom and Sherry Leidig enough…they believe in me and they believe in what we can accomplish together…Bonzai Bruns and I are learning to communicate a little better and that has shown…he is great crew chief and very knowledgeable…I also need to thank Bonnell’s Rod Shop and DKW Transport…they have been with me for a while and they will follow me to the ‘59’ team…definitely excited for 2015.”
Danny Holtgraver earned seven victories during his 2014 campaign; all while behind the wheel of the familiar Hunter Racing ‘10H’ owned by Rob Hunter. Three of his seven victories took shape during UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions competition; earning a hefty $5,000 for each triumph. Perhaps Holtgraver’s most celebrated accomplishment of 2014 came at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio where he won for the first time in his young career. The victory occurred during ‘Ohio Sprint Speedweek;’ topping the massive 44 car field.
“2014 was pretty special in its own right…we had a lot of highs and some lows..but all in all, it was a great year” explained Holtgraver, “Winning at Eldora was huge..definitely a career highlight..that place is known all over the world and to be a winner there is incredible…hopefully next year we can park the ‘59’ on the same stage.”
Like previously announced, Danny Holtgraver will spend the upcoming winter months ‘Down Under,’ driving for car owner Reeve Kruck during the Australian summer season. Holtgraver, joined by crew chief Bingo Jenkins, will pilot the Reeve Kruck owned no. 36 during fourteen events; including the notorious Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic in Warrnambool. The former Lernerville Speedway track champion will spend a vast majority of his Australian campaign competing with the World Series of Sprintcars- a ‘Down Under’ comparison of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.
“This is going to be an experience of a lifetime” said Holtgraver about getting the opportunity to race in Australia, “I want to thank Reeve and Bingo for this opportunity…this will be my first ever visit to Australia…I’d love for this to turn into a yearly event…getting an extra month and a half of seat time is only going to help me prepare for Florida…I can’t wait to get over there!”
