Danny Holtgraver will join PA Posse for Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway

PITTSBURGH, PA (May 22, 2017) -After a near-seven month hiatus, “Downtown” Danny Holtgraver made his return to 410 cubic inch sprint car competition, this time joining Western Pennsylvania’s finest on Saturday evening, May 20, at the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh native, piloting his family-owned/Bonnell’s Rod Shop/DKW Transport/Alternative Power Sources/No. D4, finished sixth during his 2017 debut; a perfect segue into the holiday weekend ahead.

“Man, it feels good to be back in a sprint car,” Danny Holtgraver said. “I wasn’t sure if I was going to remember how to drive one of these things. We had a lot of fun at Mercer. I think we were a little better than where we finished. We just kinda tucked in line and raced in the fast groove with everyone else. It was definitely fun. Now we can look forward to a few days out east.”

The former Lernerville Speedway sprint car track champion will continue his 2017 campaign with a trip east to the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace” in Port Royal, Pennsylvania; joining the Pennsylvania Posse for the two-day Bob Weikert Memorial on Saturday and Sunday, May 27-28. The Memorial Day weekend marquee will kick-off officially with a $5,000-to-win preliminary on Saturday evening, followed by a $10,000-to-win blockbuster on Sunday evening. Holtgraver is certainly no stranger to high dollar paydays, scoring the 2016 Lou Blaney Memorial at Sharon (OH) Speedway worth $10,000, as well as the 2013 King Of The 360’s title at East Bay (FL) Raceway Park worth $10,000.

“I think we are all ready to get back to Port Royal Speedway,” Danny Holtgraver explained. “I’ve always really enjoyed racing there. It can be demanding, but I enjoy the style of driving that it takes to be successful there. That entire staff has put a ton of work into that place. I’m excited to get over there on Saturday and check out what they have done. Hopefully we can earn a big piece of that purse in the meantime. I can’t thank everyone who has stood behind me from the start enough. We don’t have a lot of plans this year; 20 races at the most. I’m looking forward to a pressure-free season.”
