GETTYSBURG, PA. (October 17, 2016) – For the first time in his career, Danny Dietrich is a National Open champion at Williams Grove Speedway; earning $25,000 for his efforts, as well as his first World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series victory of the 2016 season.

In dramatic fashion, “Double-D” took command of the 40-lap, National Open main event with just two circuits remaining, eventually driving by Joey Saldana to officially lead lap 39 and lap 40, securing his place on top of the feature podium for the largest payday of his career. The win also increased Dietrich’s top-five total to four on the season against the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series; his second of October.

“Oh man, this is awesome. I owe this all to my entire team. They bust their butts and make victories like this possible. We put ourselves in position early, so we had to capitalize,” Danny Dietrich explained. “I knew I was going to have something for Joey there at the end. I was really able to make the bottom work. That was about the only place I was really good at. The top of turns one and two were quick, and I was really good on the bottom of three and four. Regardless, we made it work and we scored the big one.”

For Dietrich, the $25,000 National Open victory raised his season win total to nine; his second at Williams Grove Speedway, joining two victories at Lincoln Speedway, two victories at Selinsgrove Speedway, two victories at Susquehanna Speedway, and one at Port Royal Speedway. The Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, native will have an opportunity to stretch his win total to the double-digit mark this Saturday night, October 22, when the Gary Kauffman Racing, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Hickory Run Orchards, Weikert’s Livestock, Carlisle Auto Salvage, CATS Used Truck Parts, No. 48 entry returns to competition at the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace” in Port Royal, Pennsylvania.

Dietrich will conclude his month of October with a trip to the Dirt Track at Charlotte for the World of Outlaws World Finals on Thursday through Saturday, October 27-29. It will be Dietrich’s first-ever appearance at the World of Outlaws World Finals.

“Unfortunately, a National Open victory means the season is coming to a close,” Dietrich said. “We have one more weekend of racing near home before we head south to Charlotte. I’m pretty excited for these next few weekends. We have some momentum on our side, so hopefully we can put that to good use. I just want to thank my entire team, my car owner, and all of my fans and supporters for staying behind me. We’ve had a lot of great highlights this year. Those wouldn’t be possible without all of their help.”
