BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 9, 2018) – Donny Schatz’s two-day return to the Badger State on Friday and Saturday, July 6 & 7, was a success story from start to finish, ending the weekend with a pair of top-five finishes, one of which the result of a rally from the inside of row six. Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 15 sprint car, used the weekend to bump his World of Outlaws top-five total to 26 in 34 starts, also keeping a stronghold on the World of Outlaws championship by 92 markers over Brad Sweet.

Donny Schatz visited Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., during the recent weekend, taking part in the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown. The Fargo, N.D., native finished fourth and third, respectively, during the two-day blockbuster, earning main event starting positions after finishing fourth and second during his respective heat races.

Although finishing higher in the running order on Saturday, third after starting in the exact same position, Schatz’s performance on Friday was big, advancing from the inside of row six to finish fourth during the main event. Because of his efforts, Schatz also earned the evening’s KSE Hard Charger Award for advancing the most positions during the evening’s main event.

Although rallying in a big way, Schatz had to do things the hard way on Friday night, actually forced to start last in his heat race after suffering from engine trouble during qualifying time trials, ultimately missing his turn in the time trial order. Schatz rebounded to finish fourth, automatically qualifying for the feature event.

“It was a solid weekend for our team. I’m not sure we’ll ever be satisfied with finishing off of the top spot on the podium, but we’ll take it and move forward,” Donny Schatz said, who is chasing a tenth World of Outlaws title in 2018. “The month of July and the first part of August is obviously very special. I’m confident we have what it takes to be up front every night. Hopefully I can do my part and fulfil that potential.”

Donny Schatz will continue his quest toward a tenth World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series championship with a visit to Attica Raceway Park for the Brad Doty Classic on Tuesday, July 10, followed by the 35th Annual Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway on Thursday through Saturday, July 12-14. Awarding a grand prize equalling $50,000, Donny Schatz is the defending Kings Royal champion at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track, taking the lead from Lockbourne, Ohio’s Cole Duncan on lap 14 before driving off to score the five-digit payday.
