Highlights
Saturday Action At PPMS

PITTSBURGH, PA — The final Action Event at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway takes place this Saturday, October 5th, as the Sunoco Late Model Sportsman drivers will battle in their final Showdown Series event, the FallOver 20. The 20 lap main event will pay the winner $500.00. In addition to the Late Model Sportsman, a complete program for the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Models, Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks, Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns and the Pro-4 Division is scheduled.

“It is difficult to believe but the regular racing season will come to an end this Saturday evening,” stated Speedway Owner Matt Miley. “We have been blessed with great weather this entire season and this Saturday we will give the Super Late Model and Pro-Late Model competitors one final chance to get ready for next weekend’s 25th Silver Anniversary Pittsburgher. In addition, the FallOver 20 Late Model Sportsman finale will provide the area’s best Late Model Sportsman competitors with one more opportunity to master Dirt’s Monster Half Mile.”

Jeff Broniszewski was the winner in last Saturday’s LMS feature event and has a total of eight victories to his credit this season. Other winners who will be vying for the FallOver trophy include the 2013 divisional champion Nick Kocuba, two time winner Vince Laboon and Pat Weldon. Since many area speedways are closed for the season it is expected that some “out of town invaders” may make the trek to Imperial, PA to try and score the win over the PPMS regulars.

The newly crowned Super Late Model Champion Alex Ferree continued his fine season with another dominating performance in last week’s main event. Ferree scored his fifth victory of the year at the Imperial, PA oval as he defeated John Mollick in the 25-lap non-stop feature event. Ferree also set a new track record as he toured the Imperial, PA oval at an average of 130 miles per hour in the feature event. The second generation pilot has been the hottest driver on the Western PA circuit since July and is one of the favorites to claim the $25,000 payday in next weekend’s NDRL sanctioned event.

Bill Tennant of Colliers, WV defeated his wife April to score the win in the first ever Pro-4 main event held at the speedway. Alex Paden, a regular at the Mercer Raceway Park, scored a third place finish and was followed by Dale Kimberly and Mark Tringes, Sr.

Other winners last Saturday evening included Josh Holtgraver, who scored his second Pro-Late Model victory of the season; asphalt driver Adam Kostelnik, who proved his prowess on the dirt, as he claimed the Hobby Stock win and O.B. Huff, who was the victory in Young Guns racing action.
