Pittsburgh, PA (July 7th, 2015) – Danny Holtgraver and Phoenix Racing continued their 2015 UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions campaign during the recent holiday weekend; rejoining the regional travels for a multi-day slate of ‘410’ sprint car competition in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Holtgraver, driver of the familiar Phoenix Racing, Bonnell’s Rod Shop, DKW Transport, Auto Electric of Jupiter, Florida, Southern Pacific Farms, no. 59, made visits to the Mercer Raceway Park and Millstream Speedway during Independence Day weekend and accumulated three consecutive top-ten finishes. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native highlighted his weekend with a top-five performance at the Millstream Speedway on Sunday, July 5th.

“It was a pretty solid weekend for us” said Holtgraver, “We’ve been finding some speed finally and that is motivating. Our weekend at Mercer (Raceway Park) wasn’t too bad. I think we had the potential to finish better than where we did. I have a lot of experience at Mercer and I’ve been privileged enough to win there on several occasions. Not being able to repeat that this weekend made it tough but we still had really respectable results.”

‘Downtown’ Danny Holtgraver kicked off his holiday weekend with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions on Friday night, July 3rd at the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania; finishing sixth officially during the 25-lap, $3,000-to-win main event. The Phoenix Racing ‘59’ team would add a second consecutive top-ten finish to their weekend resume on Saturday, July 4th back at Mercer Raceway Park. Holtgraver finished 9th during the 30-lap, $5,000 to win program.

Holtgraver and Phoenix Racing ended their holiday weekend schedule with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions during a trip west to the recently reopened Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio. The former Lernerville Speedway track champion and three-time UNOH All Star winner in 2014 finished fourth at Millstream Speedway on Sunday, July 5th; charging ten positions from a 14th starting position.

“We ended our weekend on a good note” said Holtgraver, “We just kinda stayed out of trouble at Millstream and pushed ourselves towards the front. I think we were a podium car, just ran out of time. I want to thank Tom Leidig for what he does for me. Bob Curtis came on board as of late and has been a great addition to this race team. Looking forward to Sharon Speedway this Saturday.”

Danny Holtgraver and Phoenix Racing will rejoin the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions trail on Saturday evening, July 11th at the Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio. The seventh annual ‘Lou Blaney Memorial’ is on tap Saturday night at the 3/8-mile, high banked oval; awarding $10,000 to the main event winner. The Phoenix Racing ‘59’ team last visited the Sharon Speedway complex on Tuesday night, June 23rd for the fifth round of Ohio Sprint Speedweek. Holtgraver was racing inside the top-five until mechanical failure struck the ‘59,’ resulting in wall contact and an end to his feature performance.

“We were fast at Sharon Speedway during speedweek” said Holtgraver, “Just bad luck. Not much you can do about it. We were running really well but something broke in the front end and we ended up hard into the wall. We know the speed is there, we just need to capitalize on that again this weekend.”
