Jack Sodeman, Jr. Earns Eighth Western PA Victory of the Season

NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (August 22, 2016) – After earning his eighth sprint car victory of the 2016 season, and his fifth at Mercer Raceway Park, Jack Sodeman, Jr. has officially set the stage for a potential Western Pennsylvania sweep; earning track championships at Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park.
Although Sodeman enters the weekend as the current point leader at both facilities, each title is still mathematically at large. The North Jackson, Ohio, native will enter the final weekend of championship competition with a 28 point advantage at Lernerville Speedway and a near-200 point advantage at Mercer Raceway Park.
Sodeman earned his fifth Mercer Raceway Park victory of the season on Saturday night, August 20, by nearly three seconds over Bryan Sebetto and Michael Baur. A championship in 2016 would give Sodeman three in the last four years at the Mercer short track, including a second consecutive.
“We certainly haven’t overlooked our position, but we still have a season to finish,” Sodeman, Jr. explained. “If we just keep doing what we have been, the championships and points will come on their own. The last thing we want to do is enter this weekend overconfident and race ourselves out of a title. We have to race smart and work toward the front.”
Lernerville Speedway will host their final night of championship points on Friday night, August 26, with Mercer’s to follow on Saturday, August 27. A title at Lernerville Speedway would be a first ever feat for Jack Sodeman, Jr., adding to a rich resume that includes championships at Sportsman’s Speedway, Sharon Speedway, and Mercer Raceway Park.
“I owe it all to my family, not just this year, but every year,” Sodeman said. “They introduced me to this sport and I owe it all to them for keeping me around it and supporting me while I participate. We’ve had some great nights, and we’ve had some bad, but we keep pushing and good things happen. We’re excited to see how this weekend unfolds. It’s all on us; we can win it or lose it.”
