Justin Whittall scores top-five at the Speed Palace; BAPS visit on deck

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

VINCENTOWN, N.J. (August 7, 2018) – Justin Whittall’s last minute decision to visit Port Royal Speedway on Saturday, August 4, turned out to be a wise decision, as the Vincentown, N.J., native, who has spent much of the year focused on 360c.i. sprint car competition, earned his first 410c.i. top-five finish of year, finishing fourth, officially, during feature action at the “Speed Palace.”

Whittall, who now owns a pair of top-five finishes during sprint action this season, led most of the main event at Port Royal Speedway before settling for a fourth place finish. Starting from the outside-pole position, Whittall led all but the final three circuits, nearly capturing a victory before an ill-handling car forced him high, then low, making brief contact with the inside barrier. Despite a fast-fading race car, Whittall held on to chase Lucas Wolfe, Rick Lafferty, and eventual winner, Logan Wagner, to the final checkers.

“We were close,” Justin Whittall explained, driver of the JW Motorsports/Atlantic Utility Trailer/Brotherton Brewing Company/Pioneer Auto Body/Worldwide Bearings/No. 67 sprint car. “We were starting to lose a little bit of handling during the later parts of the race. We had a late caution and I think if that didn’t come out, we would have had a real shot at winning that race. Regardless, I can’t thank my team and my family enough for this opportunity. We are going to try again on Friday at BAPS Motor Speedway.”

If all goes according to plan, Justin Whittall will continue his 2018 campaign on Friday evening, August 10, and visit BAPS Motor Speedway near York Haven, Pa. Whittall will not return to 360c.i. competition until August 17 when the United Racing Club (URC) visits Bedford (Pa.) Speedway.
