FREMONT, Ohio (June 24, 2019) – Despite a week full of distractions, mostly due to a persistent Mother Nature, the ‘Texas Traveler’ T.J. Michael put together a string of solid Ohio Sprint Speedweek performances, ending the nine-day turned four-event schedule with three main event starts, highlighting all appearances with a 13th place finish during the Speedweek opener at Attica Raceway Park on June 14.
In fact, Michael started sixth on the Attica grid and battled his way to fourth. Although in the hunt for a top-ten early, the Plano, Texas-native, who lives in Fremont, Ohio, during the summer months, faded three spots shy.
In addition to his 13th place performance at Attica, Michael finished 18th and 20th, respectively, during Ohio Sprint Speedweek starts at Wayne County Speedway on June 19 & 22.
In spectacular fashion, Michael earned his way into the Speedweek finale main event on June 22 with a last lap, last corner pass during the evening’s B-main, actually powering from sixth to fourth to earn a spot in the $10,000-to-win showstopper; there were 50 cars on hand.
“It was a wild week, to say the least. Hats off to the tracks for doing what they could to help us get some shows in. It’s never easy chasing the weather around. It’s tough to build any rhythm when you’re constantly dodging raindrops,” Michael explained, driver of the Michael Motorsports/Advanced Architectural Stone/Crown Battery/Fremont Fence Company/Pro-Tech Services/Wood Heating and Air Conditioning/Kear’s Speed Shop/Wings Unlimited/Soul Fully Rooted/Big D’s Pizza/No. 8M sprint car. “Regardless, I’m proud of my team. We have a lot of potential and I’m excited about it. Hopefully we can put some solid finishes together this weekend when we visit Attica and Sharon.”
T.J. Michael and Michael Motorsports will continue their 2019 campaign with a two-race weekend in the Buckeye State, first returning to Attica Raceway Park on Friday, June 28, followed by a Saturday night visit to Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, on June 29. Although not a frequent destination, Michael is no stranger to action at Sharon Speedway, as the ‘Texas Traveler’ owns one top-five finish at the northeast Ohio venue already this season.
