BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 8, 2019) – It was a productive holiday weekend for Donny Schatz and the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car team, not only entering three events in four days across much of the upper-Midwest, but the ten-time and defending World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion attained three consecutive top-ten finishes in the process, two of which resulting in podium performances.

The Fargo, North Dakota-native kicked off his holiday travels with a visit to Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, South Dakota, on Wednesday, July 3. Schatz ended his night third on the podium, battling with Logan Schuchart early before losing a spot to current championship points leader, Brad Sweet, during the late stages of the main event.

The week concluded with a two-night stay at the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin, on Friday and Saturday, July 5 & 6. Although the two-day program ultimately turned into a one-day program, Mother Nature making her presence known just as feature action was taking off on Friday, Schatz was not distracted, concluding the weekend with a runner-up finish and a seventh place finish, respectively. In fact, Schatz led nine laps during Cedar Lake’s first of two main events on Saturday [Friday’s feature], eight through 16, before losing the top spot to eventual winner, Sheldon Haudenschild, on lap 17.

“That’s how tough the World of Outlaws is right now. You can’t afford to make mistakes. We were close a few times, but we still have a long season ahead. We want to win races and that’s what we are working to do,” Donny Schatz said, who is currently second in the World of Outlaws championship standings. “I have the best team in the business. They put me in a position to win every night. It’s my job to take advantage of those opportunities and get to the front.”

Donny Schatz will continue his quest toward an 11th World of Outlaws championship this Friday and Saturday, July 12 & 13, with a two-day swing through Michigan and Wisconsin. Action will ignite on Friday evening, July 12, with a visit to Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Michigan. The weekend will conclude one evening later with a Saturday night stay at the Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wisconsin.

The World of Outlaws did not make an appearance at Hartford Speedway in 2018, but the Greatest Show On Dirt did visit Wilmot Raceway where Schatz finished eighth.
