BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 31, 2018) – Tony Stewart’s weekend in the Midwest with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 was frustrating, but beneficial, ultimately qualifying for three out of four main events against some of the toughest fields assembled during All Star competition in 2018. The driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 14 sprint car ended the four-race sweep with a respectable feature charge on Sunday night at 34 Raceway.

Perhaps Smoke’s most impressive performance of the weekend, Tony Stewart kicked-off his four-race trek on Thursday night, July 26, at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. The three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion earned a victory during his respective heat race, right before finishing second during the second of two dashes. Unfortunately for Smoke, mechanical woes forced the Columbus, Ind., native to retire from main event competition early while battling inside the top-five.

Stewart continued his weekend in the Midwest with a 17th place finish at Jackson (Minn.) Motorplex on Friday, July 27; a fifth place finish during C-main competition at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway on Saturday, July 28; all capped off with an 11th place finish at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, on Sunday, July 29.

Although deep within the preliminary features, Stewart’s fifth place finish during C-main action was impressive, rallying from 11th on the grid after winning the evening’s D-main.

“It takes a lot of laps to build a comfort level in these race cars. I don’t think we are where we need to be yet, but we are getting close,” Tony Stewart explained. “We raced against some stout competition all weekend. We have another important weekend ahead of us so hopefully we can put our Knoxville Raceway notes to good use during the 360 Nationals.”

Tony Stewart will continue his 2018 campaign with another start at the Sprint Car Capital of the World – Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. The 28th Annual 360 Knoxville Nationals will headline action at the Marion County Fairgrounds on Thursday through Saturday, August 2-4. With the field split into two, separate qualifying rounds, Tony Stewart will attempt to earn his way directly into the 360 Knoxville Nationals A-main during the Thursday night qualifier. Nearly 100 entrants will make the call over the course of the weekend.
