York, PA (March 17th, 2014) – Despite the beautiful daytime racing conditions that helped propel the 2014 Central Pennsylvania sprint car season into action this past Saturday afternoon, not all of the competitors signed in for competition were able to enjoy them. It was Lincoln Speedway’s annual ‘Icebreaker 30’ that launched the new racing season this past Saturday, March 15th; hosting Central Pennsylvania’s finest ‘410’ sprint car pilots for a shot at $3,500 and a year’s worth of bragging rights. For York, Pennsylvania’s Cory Haas, it was a tough start to the new year. The former multi-time ‘358’ sprint car track champion at the Pigeon Hills oval ended his 2014 ‘Icebreaker 30’ experience with a trip on ‘the hook.’

After earning a spot in the $3,500-To-Win ‘Icebreaker 30’ main event by way of transferring through his respective heat race, Cory Haas found himself in a potential winning position. The fourth place heat race finish allowed the pilot of the Michael Barshinger Builder, Embee & Son, Inc, York P-B Truss, Inc., Thornton Chevrolet, no. 11C ‘410’ sprinter to be a part of the afternoon’s feature redraw. The redraw resulted in Haas having to start the main event from the inside of the fifth row. Unfortunately, Cory Haas’ feature would be cut short due to contact with the turn 1 and 2 wall; forcing the familiar ‘11C’ to be carried out on ‘the hook.’ Haas was officially scored 24th. There were thirty (30) cars in action for Lincoln Speedway’s ‘Icebreaker 30’ program; with Adam Wilt earning the $3,500 pay day.

Cory Haas and the entire Michael Barshinger ‘11C’ operation will be back in action this Saturday evening, March 22nd at the Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania. The facility will utilize a 6:00PM starting time on Saturday; with the ‘410’ sprint cars being joined by the ‘358’ Sprint Cars and ‘358’ Late Models.
