FOREST, Ohio (July 15, 2019) – Surviving a near-race-ending cotosphroy on the final circuit, Pleasant Hill, Ohio’s Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports earned their way to victory lane on Saturday night at Fremont Speedway, clinching their second Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) feature win of the season and their first since early April.

Certainly keeping fans on the edge of their seats during their visit to ‘The Track That Action Built,’ contact on the final circuit between Westfall and a battling competitor forced the pilot of the ever-familiar ‘Bumblebee Express’ to perform a 360 degree spin while keeping the engine fired. Caution flags soon followed, as the car that made contact with Westfall also spun, but pulled to a stop. A one lap dash to the final checkers ensued with Westfall maintaining control to clinch his spot in Fremont Speedway victory lane.

Westfall kicked off his evening in northwest Ohio with a runner-up performance during heat race competition.

“What an exciting final lap. I wasn’t too sure how that was going to end, but Matt [Westfall] did what he had to do and it all worked out. I’m happy for the team,” Ray Marshall said, owner of the Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Crazy Lady Restaurant and Bar/Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car. “We were long overdue for a win and I’m happy we were able to get it done at Fremont. These guys have been working very hard and the results certainly show. We hope to take advantage of this momentum boost.”

Before making the trip to Fremont Speedway for BOSS Series competition, Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports made an appearance at Gas City Speedway in Gas City, Indiana, on Friday, July 12. The visit proved successful for the Forest, Ohio-based race team, ending the evening with an impressive climb from 15th to finish sixth.

Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will now look ahead and prepare for an entire slate of USAC National Sprint Car Series events across Ohio and Indiana, all of which beginning with the #LetsRaceTwo make-up at Eldora Speedway on Wednesday, July 17. Westfall will then follow USAC to Gas City Speedway for the first night of Indiana Sprint Week on Thursday, July 18, followed by consecutive Indiana Sprint Week starts at Plymouth Speedway, Kokomo Speedway and Lawrenceburg Speedway on July 18-21.
