PITTSBURGH, PA — Join us this Saturday, June 15th, as Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway hosts the third stop on the ‘Icon Memorial Tour’ Speedweek sponsored by the Renegades of Dirt. The Herb Scott Memorial, presented by K&N Performance, will showcase the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models in a 40-lap main event with the winner earning a cool $4,000 paycheck for his or her efforts. The Edge E-Mods will also compete this Saturday in their first of four events in 2013 with the winner of their 20-lap feature event scoring $1,200. The Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Lates, Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman, Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks and the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns will round out the evening’s racing action.


“We are extremely excited to host the third leg of the ‘Icon Memorial Tour’, stated Speedway Owner Matt Miley. “This event provides our Super Late Model teams with the opportunity to compete with some of our region’s top Super Late Model drivers without driving several hours to do so. In addition, we are also recognizing Herb Scott, who is a legend in Late Model racing and who’s accomplishments are recognized throughout the nation.”

The Super Late Model portion of Saturday’s racing action will get underway with group time trials, followed by a six lap Dash that will invert the top six qualifiers. The finish of the dash will determine positions one through six in the A-Main. Heat race action and a B-Main will determine the remainder of the field for the 40-lap feature event.

Mike Benedum, George Lee and Rick Aukland are just a few of the competitors expected to invade the Imperial, PA oval to battle weekly hotshoes such as Michael Norris, Jared Miley, Lynn Geisler, Keith Barbara and Brandon Burgoon.

Super Late Model teams are reminded that there is a $40 Entry Fee for Saturday’s event. The Series’ will also utilize the following tire rule for this Saturday’s event: Any American Racer / 44, 48 or 56 is permitted as well as Any Hoosier / 1300, 1350, 1425 or 1600.

The Renegade of Dirt E-Mods will also make their first appearance of the 2013 season this Saturday. Current Series points leader Jesse Wisecarver as well as “Double Duty” Rick Aukland, Scott Stiffler, Joel Watson and Rich Michael are among those expected to be in action this Saturday. In addition second generation E-Mod chauffeur Jonathan Taylor also has the event on this week’s schedule. Lady racers Deana Groves, who scored a win here at PPMS in 2010, and Renegade Rookie of the Year contender Amanda Stiffler will also be in attendance to challenge the guys.

The Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates for this Saturday’s event open at 5:00PM with the first green flag waving promptly at 7:00PM.

Adult Grandstand Admission is $20.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $19.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $15.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Denise.

Pit Admission for this week’s event is $35.00.

Don’t forget that the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of amusement park munchies like monster chicken wings, pepperoni rolls, grilled chicken sandwiches and cotton candy at “fan friendly prices.”
