2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: 11th | 860 points [144 points behind championship leader, David Gravel]

CARLISLE, Pa. (March 14, 2022) – Officially activating their six-race stay through the Golden State, Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports put together an impressive campaign at Thunderbowl Raceway during the recent weekend, ultimately capping the March 11-12 doubleheader with a top-five finish, securing a pair of dash appearances in the process while also leading laps during each of the contested main events.
“I still have a lot to learn, but getting to contend up front was a huge gain for our team,” Spencer Bayston said, driver of the CJB Motorsports, Signing Day Sports, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, The Dunn Group, Highlands’ Power Sports, High Performance Lubricants, No. 5 sprint car. “It provides me with the opportunity to keep learning and progress toward consistent finishes each and every night.”
In fact, the only thing keeping Bayston and CJB Motorsports from attaining a potential back-to-back top-five outcome was a flat front tire while leading Friday’s main event, caused as the result of contact with the inside retaining wall. Bayston started Friday’s feature from the outside-pole position, earned after finishing second in his respective heat race, thus qualifying for the evening’s dash.
After Friday’s tire hiccup, occurring on lap seven after leading the first six circuits, Bayston redeemed himself on Saturday and picked up right where he left off, once again earning a dash spot, but this time securing the feature pole by way of dash victory. The Lebanon, Indiana, native shot out of a cannon and led the first nine circuits, forced to take a backseat to Fresno’s Dominic Scelzi after a lap ten restart. Bayston would actually return the favor on Scelzi shortly thereafter, but the move was negated due to a caution.
Bayston eventually powered his way back into second, but not before NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson got by to take the race lead on lap 19. Brad Sweet and David Gravel also snuck by Bayston late forcing the CJB Motorsports entry to settle into fourth.
“Yeah, it felt good to redeem ourselves a little bit on night two after my mistake on Friday night,” Bayston added, “Barry, Scott, and Brenden provided me with a top contending car both nights. It seemed like both nights we had cars capable of winning and that, in turn, makes my job a whole lot easier. I’m proud of this team. I’m already looking forward to Merced and Ocean.”

Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with another California double on Friday and Saturday, March 18-19. The Greatest Show On Dirt will kick things off with a visit to Merced Speedway in Merced, California, followed by a stop at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, California. The trip to Merced will be a first-ever for Bayston, continuing his pursuit of the 2022 World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year Award.
