York, PA (February 12th, 2014) – Sprint car competition is set to regain consciousness in Central Pennsylvania next Saturday afternoon, February 22nd at the Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania. The annual ‘Icebreaker 30’ program, which will showcase ‘410’ sprint car competition as the lone attraction, will act as the 2014 season opener for not only Lincoln Speedway, but also Central Pennsylvania. The $3,500-to-win marquee event will feature a strong roster of Central Pennsylvania ‘410’ talent; including York, Pennsylvania native and former Lincoln Speedway ‘410’ feature winner, Cory Haas. Haas will once again pilot the familiar Michael Barshinger Builder, Embee & Son, Inc, York P-B Truss, Inc., no. 11C, ‘410’ sprinter in the Pigeon Hills next Saturday afternoon; as well as throughout his 2014 Central Pennsylvania campaign. Cory Haas is certainly no stranger to Lincoln Speedway victory lane, and hopes to jump start his upcoming season with a $3,500 pay day in Abbottstown.

“Hopefully we get to race…I am about sick of this weather” chuckled Cory Haas, “The ‘Icebreaker 30’ is always a fun race…it’s great to kick-off the season every year with a pretty high paying event…the stands are always packed and so is the pit area…we are really excited to get this season started.”

The ‘Icebreaker 30’ will only help initiate another long Central Pennsylvania racing season for Cory Haas. The ‘11C’ operation will focus on a schedule very similar to those of 2013 and 2012. The former eight-time ‘358’ sprint car track champion in Central Pennsylvania (four at Lincoln and four at Williams Grove) will spend each and every Friday and Saturday behind the wheel of his ‘410’ sprinter; focusing on weekly points action at the Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and the Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania. Williams Grove Speedway will be the main focus for Cory Haas on Friday evenings throughout 2014; with Lincoln Speedway acting as the normal stop for the ‘11C’ team each and every Saturday. Cory Haas has yet to earn a ‘410’ track championship at either famed facility; but hopes to stir up the title chases in 2014 and finish on top. Williams Grove Speedway will launch their upcoming season on Friday evening, March 28th.

“Our schedule will remain about the same as usual; ‘The Grove’ and Lincoln every week for the most part” explained Cory Haas, “We made a few changes to our team so we’ll see how it works out…last year wasn’t a real fantastic year for us…we struggled during some parts of the season but nobody gave up…everyone works hard and we keep digging…we’ll head to the ‘Icebreaker’ with the goal of starting our new season in victory lane.”

Cory Haas capped-off his 2013 campaign inside the top-fifteen of the final ‘Speedway Motors/Champion Racing Oil Central PA Sprint Cars’ point standings; finishing twelfth (12th), officially, by the season’s end. Williams Grove Speedway was the site of Haas’ lone victory of 2013. The former ‘Most Improved Driver’ at the Mechanicsburg half-mile also earned an eleventh (11th) place finish in the final track standings; missing the top-ten by a mere seventy (70) markers. Haas finished a solid fifth (5th) in the final Lincoln Speedway ‘410’ sprint car championship chase in 2013. The ‘11C’ machine earned seven (7) top-five finishes and seventeen (17) top-ten finishes along the way.

“We had our highlights last season but it wasn’t where we wanted to be…we worked hard all off-season getting this team ready for 2014…all we need now is a little cooperation from Mother Nature and we’ll be in good shape!”
