Pittsburgh, PA (October 29th, 2014) – After a long weekend in southern Ohio competing in the ‘Open Wheel Championships’ at the Atomic Speedway near Chillicothe, Ohio, Danny Holtgraver and Phoenix Racing will take the upcoming weekend off to begin preparations for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series ‘World Finals’ near Charlotte, North Carolina. Holtgraver, who pilots the Phoenix Racing, Auto Electric of Jupiter, Southern Pacific Farms, no. 59 ‘410’ sprinter, will join some of the greatest sprint car drivers in the world next Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 6th, 7th & 8th; aiming to conquer The Dirt Track at Charlotte (NC) and earn that elusive first-career World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series main event win. The three-day program will feature two complete days of World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series competition on Friday and Saturday; with two complete sessions of qualifying time trials being contested on Thursday.

“This is an event I look forward to every year” explained Danny Holtgraver when asked about the World Finals in Charlotte, NC, “It’s bittersweet to be honest; it’s an event everyone looks forward to, but it also closes the season for a lot of teams, including us…I am really comfortable with The Dirt Track at Charlotte…I’ve always enjoyed racing there…it’s a top notch facility, and the fans there are incredible…the place is always packed and the atmosphere is second to none…I can’t thank Tom and Sherry Leidig enough for this opportunity…hopefully we can go down there and earn our first win as a team.”

The Phoenix Racing/Holtgraver duo recently competed in the ‘Open Wheel Championships’ at the Atomic Speedway (OH) on October 23rd, 24th & 25th. Out of the 53 cars that entered, the ‘59’ team was able to earn a 19th place finish during the 40-lap/$15,000-to-win ‘Open Wheel Championships’ A-main, after having to qualify through the weekend’s B-main. Although the results may not reflect just yet, the new Phoenix Racing combination, with veteran crew chief Bonzai Burns, is continuing to grow stronger, and looks forward to their upcoming trip to Charlotte, North Carolina.

“We are a new combination; bottom line…we still have a lot to learn about each other” explained Danny Holtgraver, “Bonzai and I are working hard; trying to get the car where it needs to be…sometimes it takes a little while for a new driver/team combination to grow acclimated with each other…these guys work hard; Tom, Bonzai, the entire operation…I can’t thank Tom Leidig enough…this is a great opportunity and I am more than grateful to be a part of it.”
