PITTSBURGH, PA — The year is rapidly drawing to a close and Christmas carols have temporarily replaced the roars of racing engines for many. In addition our thoughts have turned to holiday gatherings and spending time with family and friends so the staff and management of Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway wanted to take a few moments to extend a sincere “Thank You” to the competitors, marketing partners, car owners, crew members and race fans who have supported our speedway during the past year.

The rebirth of the 25th Silver Anniversary edition of the NDRL sponsored Pittsburgher 100 was definitely the most anticipated show of the year and the support we received from the fans and race teams was terrific. Jason Feger scored the win in Friday night’s racing action and of course Scott Bloomquist captured the main event and a $25,000.00 check on Saturday evening. The dates for the 2014 Pittsburgher have been set (Sept. 11th, 12th and 13th). The 26th Annual edition of the event will feature three days of racing action with the NDRL stars battling for a $5,000 first place prize on both Thursday and Friday and the winner’s of Saturday’s finale collecting a $26,000 payday for his efforts.

Each Saturday evening from April through September the competitors travel the highways in New York, West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania to provide us with exciting racing action. Although there are only a few teams that enjoy the spotlight in victory lane each Saturday night, in our eyes each competitor is a winner. You make the trek to our speedway each and every week in spite of the cold, rain and extreme heat to provide those in attendance with three and four wide racing action. In 2013, more than 150 drivers competed in the events that were held at the Imperial, PA oval and we appreciate your support. The endless hours that each of you spend in the garage preparing for competition each week are often overlooked; however we sincerely appreciate your commitment to the sport/hobby that we all love and applaud you for your dedication. In addition, the sacrifices that your family members and friends make as they assist in your quest for that elusive Checkered Flag are an integral part of our sport and your character as well. These are traits that separate you from the crowd. “Thank You” for your dedication!

We also extend a special “Thank You” to all of the race fans who attended our events this summer. Once again you supported us in spite of the questionable weather that we encountered on a few evenings and we appreciate your patronage. The staff and management of PPMS strive to provide you with an action packed and affordable racing program each week and we appreciate your support. We hope that you will return to our facility in 2014 and ask that you share your memories of the affordable motorsports entertainment that takes place each Saturday night at the speedway with your friends, neighbors and coworkers and invite them along to enjoy some of the best short track racing in the tri-state area.

Just as the competitors and fans have other options on where they spend their hard earned dollars, we also recognize that our marketing partners and sponsors have multiple avenues in which to spend their advertising dollars. We at PPMS would like to offer each of you a sincere “Thank You” for making our facility a part of your marketing strategy. Your support of the speedway is an affordable and cost effective marketing partnership that places your name before several thousand potential consumers each week. This support of Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway not only propels your firm to the forefront but it also provides the speedway with the opportunity to introduce your employees and business associates to the excitement of short track auto racing. We “Thank You” for utilizing PPMS in your marketing campaigns and we look forward to working with you in the future.

The PPMS employees are also an integral part of the speedway’s operation and success. Their commitment to our speedway on race day and throughout the year, is to be commended. In addition to the time they spend at the speedway on race day there are countless hours throughout the year that these individuals give in support of local auto racing. Whether it be rules meetings, schedule suggestions or changes in the concession menu, there is much work that goes on behind the scenes as we strive to improve the weekly program at “Dirt’s Monster Half Mile.” We recognize that at times these positions can be quite stressful and we sincerely “Thank You” for all you do as a member of the PPMS Family.

It is also important to recognize the importance of improving our program and we welcome your suggestions, comments and constructive criticism. The 2014 schedule is already taking shapes; it includes the return of the NDRL sanctioned Pittsburgher as well as several dates for the new RUSH Sportsman Modified Series. Other well received shows like the BOSS Wingless Sprints, the ARDC Midgets, the Ed Laboon Memorial and the RUSH Pro-Late Model Touring Series events will also return in 2014. We welcome your input as we strive to provide our fans with a variety of full bodied and open wheel racing action that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Whether you are a driver, crew member, marketing partner, race fan or speedway employee; you are an important part of the successful equation that is Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Your continued support of our facility is sincerely appreciated and we wish each of you a Happy and Blessed Holiday Season and a Happy and Healthy New Year!!
