Stockton, CA – July 28, 2014…The start of five races to go in the battle for the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series crown will go green this Saturday night August 2 at the always action packed Stockton Dirt Track. It’s also the final race before KWS goes idle for a month, allowing for the many end of the summer special events upcoming in the state of California.

Following this weekend the next King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series event will be the big double header on Friday & Saturday September 12 & 13 at the Santa Maria Speedway & Ventura Raceway.

This Saturday’s race will be the third ever King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series event at the Stockton Dirt Track, with the first two appearances captured by Fresno’s Dominic Scelzi last August and Rutherford’s Rico Abreu in November. The tour will also finish off the 2014 season at the 3/8 mile clay oval on Saturday November 1 in the 31st annual Tribute to Gary Patterson.

Upper grandstand tickets on Saturday will cost $20 for all ages, with lower level bleachers $18 for adults, children ten and under are free in the lower bleacher seats only. Ticket Sales & Gates open at 5pm with Racing scheduled to start around 7pm. To purchase your tickets for August 2nd, contact (916) 370-9417 during the hours of 8am – 5pm, Monday through Friday.

With five races to go defending King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series champ Kyle Hirst will look to get back in a groove, following a few rather tough weeks. The driver of the Roth Motorsports No. 83jr finished among the top-five in each of the first 10 events, but has finished outside the top-five in the previous three. Hirst’s point lead now stands at 68-markers and he’d love nothing more than to score his fourth KWS win of the season on Saturday.

Campbell’s Bud Kaeding has cut into Hirst’s point lead and will be gunning to do more damage on Saturday at the Stockton Dirt Track. The three-time USAC Silver Crown champion drove the Williams Motorsports No. 0 machine to a Dash win and fifth place finish in the feature with the World of Outlaws earlier this year in Stockton.

Thirteen-time King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series champion Brent Kaeding has been close to victory the last couple weekends and will be searching to put it all together on Saturday. The living legend will bring his Al’s Roofing Supply No. 69 Sprinter into Stockton sitting third in the KWS standings.

Fresh off his Peter Murphy Classic win last weekend Chico’s Jonathan Allard has moved back up to fourth in the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series standings. The wheel-man of the Tri-C Manufacturing No. 3c came close to winning the August event in Stockton last year, only to suffer a blown engine.

Right on Allard’s heels in the points chase is 2005 King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series champion Sean Becker, who is only two-markers behind in fifth. The Roseville driver scored his first KWS win of the season recently on July 19 at Placerville aboard the Main Motorsports No. 35m mount.

The battle for sixth through ninth continues to be a torrid one, with just nine-digits separating the four drivers. Elk Grove’s Bobby McMahan, the 2009 Silver Dollar Speedway track champion goes into Stockton ranking sixth, with Grass Valley’s Jason Statler, the 2004 King of the West champion, one-digit behind in seventh and Fresno’s Dominic Scelzi, last year’s August KWS winner, just two-points back of McMahan sitting in eighth. Fremont’s Shane Golobic stands ninth and as noted is just nine-points out of sixth. Rounding out the top-10 is the always hard-charging DJ Netto of Hanford.

Lemoore’s Carson Macedo is coming off a career best King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series finish of second last weekend and will be gunning to move up one more spot on Saturday. The 18-year-old’s previous best finish came at the Stockton Dirt Track last August, when he ran third in the feature.

More drivers expected to tackle the blazing fast Stockton Dirt Track will include Fresno’s Craig Stidham, Sacramento’s Willie Croft, Fresno’s Cory Eliason, Hanford’s Mitchell Faccinto, Princeton’s Mason Moore, Gilroy’s Jarrett Soares, Auburn’s Richard Brace Jr., Fair Oak’s Chad Compton, Grass Valley’s Pat Harvey, Winton’s Gordon Rodgers and others.

Also in action on Saturday will be the traveling Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprints & Vintage Super Modifieds.

The Stockton Dirt Track is a lightning fast 3/8 mile clay oval and is located on the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds in Stockton, California. It is built inside a one-mile horse track and boasts one of the nicest dirt track facilities in the state.
