Elderton, PA (April 16th, 2013) – Like so many other Western Pennsylvania short track racers, Greg Dobrosky spent this past Sunday afternoon, April 14th, at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania; taking part in the annual DIRTcar Roundup ‘Steel City Stampede’ that was originally scheduled for last October. Dobrosky, who is a local sign maker and graphic designer at Showtime Designs near Elderton, Pennsylvania, made his first start of the 2013 season on Sunday, and finished second (2nd) in the 15-lap, ‘305’ sprint car main event; giving the Elderton, Pennsylvania native perfect podium attendance so far in 2013. The pilot of the Ed Demmy owned, Showtime Designs, Townsend Gas & Oil, no. 88 ‘305’ sprint car will make his second start of the 2013 season this Saturday evening, April 20th, at the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. The Mercer oval will host it’s first regular point race of the season this Saturday. Dobrosky plans to be a regular at the Mercer 3/8’s mile dirt oval in 2013; competing weekly in the Outlaw Sprint Warrior/’305’ sprint car division.

“I plan on racing at Mercer each and every week” said Dobrosky, “I raced at Dog Hollow Speedway regularly last year, but I want to switch things up and head to Mercer every weekend this season…Friday nights are tough for me with the sign shop opened until mid-afternoon…running on Saturday gives me the entire day to make last minute preparations…that’s probably one of the bigger reasons for making the switch”

The 2013 season will mark down as Dobrosky’s sophomore year behind the wheel of a ‘305’ sprint car. Interestingly enough, the division of motorsports that Dobrosky was first introduced to is found nowhere near an oval. In fact, the long-time motorsports enthusiast got his first start ‘behind the wheel’ when he was just sixteen-years-old; pulling mini-modified tractors competitively around the Pennsylvania fair circuit. Dobrosky was active in tractor pulling for nearly half of a decade before deciding to sell-off the equipment. It wasn’t until the mid-90’s when Dobrosky started to become actively involved with the circle track side of competitive motorsports. Micro-sprints were first brought to Dobrosky’s attention in 1996; and ever since then, the Western Pennsylvania native has been working on, in, or around, sprint cars. In the winter of 2011/2012, Dobrosky teamed up with current ‘88’ team owner, Ed Demmy, and put together a ‘305’ powered sprint car that Dobrosky would pilot. Since then, the Demmy/Dobrosky duo have made appearances at Dog Hollow Speedway (PA), Lernerville Speedway (PA), and Mercer Raceway Park (PA); resulting in multiple top five and top ten finishes, respectively.

“The tractor stuff was a lot of fun..and not near as much maintenance as the sprint car” chuckled Dobrosky, “The one pulling motor we had lasted our entire pulling career…that’s not really possible with the sprint cars…but I guess we would only pull for about 10 seconds versus running 20 or 30 laps in a sprint car…I got my start working on (micro) sprint cars back in 1996 when a close friend of mine started driving…I worked for him and a lot of different drivers and teams since then…it wasn’t until about two years ago when I got a real interest in driving…I can’t thank Ed Demmy enough for the opportunity…it’s been a blast”

Greg Dobrosky’s involvement in motorsports exceeds being a regular competitor. The sole graphic designer at Showtime Designs is responsible for many of the wraps and race car designs that are seen in the pit area today. Examples of Greg Dobrosky’s work includes, and is not limited to, Brian Ellenberger, David Gravel, Andy McKisson, Jack Sodeman Jr., and Garrett Krummert. Showtime Designs is also responsible for countless race car hauler graphics and decals. Give the shop a call today at 724-354-2600.

“I like designing race cars almost as much as I like driving them” said Dobrosky, “My dad and I started Showtime Designs back in 1992 and we have been busy ever since…to be honest, it was probably harder designing my own car than anyone elses…it’s a lot of fun and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
