Miley Victorious in Super Late Action;
Huchko Scores First Ever Sportsman Win;Lukon, Schneider and Crewl Also Capture Wins

PITTSBURGH, PA — Mother Nature may have delayed the racing action a day but the Sunday afternoon racing action at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway did not disappoint those in attendance as Jared Miley scored his first victory of the young season in Diehl of Robinson Super Late Model Division action. Others visiting Victory Lane included Brian Huchko, who scored his first ever Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman win; Kyle Lukon, who claimed his second consecutive Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Model win; Christian Schneider, who also made it “Two in a Row” in Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks and Logan Crewl, who claimed the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns main event.

Mike Johnson and Jared Miley led the Super Late Model feature event to the green flag with Miley immediately taking the top spot followed by second generation racer Alex Ferree on his rear bumper. The event was slowed by two cautions; the first on lap two and the second on lap 13. Miley opted for the outside lane on both restarts and although Ferree was able to pressure him he was never able to make the pass. At the checkered flag it was Miley in his Forcey Coal/Colussy Chevrolet sponsored Rocket Chassis scoring his first victory of the 2013 season over Ferree, Kyle Lukon, Johnson and last week’s winner Michael Norris.

Heat race wins went to Miley and Lynn Geisler. Norris claimed the Awesome Hard Charger Award as he worked his way from the 12th starting spot to a fifth place finish.

Kyle Lukon’s persistence and patience paid off in the 20 lap RUSH Pro-Late main event as he waited until lap 18 to make the winning pass and go on to score his second consecutive feature win at “Dirt’s Monster Half Mile.” Laura Lukon and Clay Ruffo led the 21 car field to the green. Dennis Neiderriter got out of shape in turn two collecting Paul Jablonski and Brad Blackshear. Neiderriter was able to continue but Jablonski and Blackshear were done for the afternoon. Ruffo led the first two circuits before defending divisional champion Colton Flinner worked his way to the top spot. Flinner was pulling away from the field and was ahead by half a lap when a caution for Brian Goebel slowed the field. Flinner and Kyle Lukon then went on to wage a great “side by side” duel with Lukon finally gaining the upper hand and the top spot on lap 18. Lukon went on to score his second win of 2013 with Flinner claiming the runner-up position. Justin Lamb, Michael Reft and Mike Pegher, Jr. completed the top five.

Neiderriter, Josh Holtgraver and Pegher, Jr. claimed the prelims.

Brian Huchko captured his first ever Late Model Sportsman main event as he led the 15 lap event the entire distance. Joey Koteles was second over Jake Simmons, who was subbing for Joe Anthony, Bill Robertson and Craig Koteles.

Huchko also won the lone Late Model Sportsman heat event.

Second generation driver Christian Schneider celebrated the birth of his baby brother earlier in the week as he claimed the Hobby Stock main event over Jonathan Hileman. It was Schneider second win of the young season and the 16 year old also scored the heat race win.

Defending Young Guns Champion Logan Crewl missed the 2013 season opener last week but wasted no time in getting back to his winning ways as he led the Young Guns main event for the entire eight lap distance. Dylan Bolind, Roman O’Neill, Michael Jackson and Jonathan Miller completed the top five.

The racing action at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway continues next Saturday, April 27th as we present the Spring Sizzler 25 for the Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Models. The 25 lap main event will pay $1,000.00 to win. In addition the Super Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby Stocks and Young Guns will also be in action.
