Turner Dairy Night the first of six Fast Fridays to Budweiser Track Championship Night
Spithaler & Garvin hold narrow leads, Williamson comfortable, Flick & McPherson tied

Sarver, PA (July 24, 2013) The fine folks from Turner Dairy Farm, our newest marketing partners and supplier of the Turner’s Premium Iced Tea that sells out almost every Friday Night in the concession stand, will be on hand Friday Night for their first “Night at the Races” as event sponsor. The Turner’s Premium Iced TeaBird has been on hand for pre-race sampling and has paced laps around the Action Track multiple times this season; most recently last Tuesday Night during the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30s as presenting sponsor of the Dash. The TeaBird will be on display outside the main gates pre-race with samples of their most popular flavors and will once again turn laps as a secondary pace vehicle.

With six Fab Four Racing events remaining in the 2013 Budweiser Track Championship Chase, Brandon Spithaler in the Peoples TWP Sprints, John Garvin Jr. in the Precise Late Models and Mat Williamson in the Diehl Modifieds lead their respective divisions in Budweiser Points, while Defending Track Champion and five-time feature winner in 2013 Corey McPherson is tied with third generation rising star and two-time feature winner in 2013 AJ Flick.

In the Peoples TWP DIRTcar Sprints, Brandon Spithaler holds a 12 point lead over second place Jack Sodeman Jr., but Sodeman is just 12 points ahead of fifth place Eric Williams. In other words, the top five drivers are separated by just 24 points with six night of racing left. Brandon Matus is in third, just three points behind Sodeman, while most recent feature winner Carl Bowser is in fourth five points behind Matus. Any of these five drivers could be sitting at the head table at next year’s banquet as Track Champion and it will be exciting to see how it plays out down the stretch! Of the four, only Brandon Matus has yet to roll into Sheetz Victory Lane this season. Spithaler, Bowser and Williams each have one win. Sodeman leads the division with three feature wins; two with the wing in Peoples TWP competition during Fab Four Racing and a third in BOSS Wingless Sprint action on Friday, July 5.

John Garvin Jr. carries a narrow four-point lead over a suddenly red hot Alex Ferree in the Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models. Ferree, a former three-time Track Champion, has won two of the last three Late Model features on June 21 and last Friday’s $3,000 ULMS Late Model race. Jared Miley, currently 16 points behind Ferree in third, won his second feature of the season on July 12; the race between Alex’s two wins. Garvin won the week before Alex’s hot streak on June 14. Fellow Sarver drivers Michael Norris and Ken Schaltenbrand are more than an entire night’s worth of points behind Garvin in fourth and fifth places respectively.

Mat Williamson has the most comfortable lead of any driver in any division; leading the Diehl Auto Group DIRTcar Northeast Modifieds by 43 and 45 points over former two-time Track Champion Jeremiah Shingledecker and seven-time and defending Track Champion Brian Swartzlander on the strength of four feature wins and not a single finish worse than fourth place. Shingledecker has one feature win, Swartzlander has two and Rex King Jr. has the other Mod feature win of the season. Dave Murdick and Brad Rapp are in the top five in Bud Points, but are longshots at best to win the title.

For the second straight week, Defending Track Champion Corey McPherson and third generation rising star AJ Flick enter the event tied in Budweiser Points atop the ultra-competitive Millerstown Pic-A-Part DIRTcar Sportsman division. As mentioned above, McPherson has five feature wins on the season, while Flick has scored two wins. Seven-time Track Champion Joe Kelley is third in points, but more than an entire night’s worth of points back. Two-time and most recent feature winner Mike Miller is fourth and Jim Fosnaught is fifth.

This Friday Night is also GBG Night. Gates open at 5:00, heat racing starts at 7:30 sharp. Fab Four Racing continues every Friday in August concluding with Championship Night on Friday, August 31. The ever popular Nostalgia Night, coordinated by local media legend Don Gamble is scheduled for Friday, is scheduled for Friday, August 9 which is also Pittsburgh Circle Track Club Night.

But before we wrap up Fab Four Racing with five Fast Fridays in August, we’ll open our gates this coming Tuesday, August 30 for “Summer Vacation” School Bus & Kids Bike Races along with the first, (second if you count the make-up race originally scheduled for the 2012 Steel City Stampede which was eventually contested this April), $1,000-to-win, 100-lap Enduro of the season and the entertaining Trailer Races.
