Batesville Motor Speedway’s Bad Boy 98 Boosted to over $150,000 in Total Purse with New Event Format and NDRL Sanctioning in 2014

Phoenix, AZ (November 18, 2013) The National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) and Batesville Speedway Owner/Promoter Mooney Starr announced today that one of the Arkansas track’s signature events will be run under the NDRL banner in 2014. Batesville Speedway, which also hosts one of dirt racing’s crown jewel events in the Topless 100, has scheduled the “Bad Boy 98” for June 26th, 27th and 28th. The Bad Boy will also feature a new format versus previous years. The event will now have a total of $30,000 in winner’s purse up for grabs for the weekend. Thursday and Friday will each feature two separate and complete shows which will pay $5,000 to win each. Then on Saturday the Bad Boy 98 event finale will pay $20,000 to the winner.

“We were looking to change the Bad Boy up and try to build it into a bigger event. This will be the third year that we have done this race and people keep saying ‘you only have one big event’ and that has just driven me to want to make this one a bigger show. The format is both driver and fan friendly with the complete shows. And what John and the NDRL are doing looked like it could give us the boost and maybe bring some new and different cars and fans. That’s what we are looking to do for the Bad Boy 98 to grow it,” said Starr.

National Dirt Racing League owner John Kennedy is enthusiastic about connecting with Batesville and Starr. “Mooney and Connie Starr are two of the most respected promoters in the dirt racing business and obviously Batesville is one of the most prestigious dirt racing venues that there is. The NDRL is thrilled to be a part of the Bad Boy 98 in 2014. Mooney wants to continue to grow the event and make it another signature event for Batesville Motor Speedway. His vision matches our goals just perfectly, so we are really looking forward to another great event,” Kennedy said.

“This is a real ‘get’ for the NDRL. Batesville has such a rich history and consistently provides for great racing. A win at Batesville is a defining victory for Dirt Late Model racers on any level. We want to help the Bad Boy 98 grow and be bigger than it’s ever been. We have increased the overall purse and we are giving the drivers three opportunities to make a show and earn some money. And we are offering the fans an opportunity to see three full nights of racing. I am thrilled that we are going to be sanctioning the Bad Boy and I am really looking forward to working with Mooney and his entire staff at Batesville,” NDRL’ Kelley Carlton added of the announcement.

Batesville Motor Speedway is a 3/8ths of a mile clay oval located near Locust Grove, Arkansas. Weekly Friday night racing consists of IMCA Modifieds, Street Stock, Factory Stock and FWD.
