Brandon Matus in action at Lernerville Speedway.

Third generation sprint car driver, Brandon Matus, is still relatively new to sprint car competition. Although he still may be young and lacking some long term experience that many of his sprint car competitors utilize, his results on the racetrack have been proving otherwise.

Brandon has certainly been turning heads thus far in 2011 with near excellent results at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania. In fact, he has tallied two consecutive top five finishes at the western PA based 4/10’s mile oval in the past two starts at the track. Fully Injected teammate and long time sprint car veteran, Rod George, acknowledged Brandon’s early 2011 success tonight  towards me while spending time at the Rod George Racing shop. “He’s been doing one helluva job this year” quoted Rod – “He’s been running up front- looking strong.”

Tomorrow night, I will be taking a trip to Wampum, Pennsylvania to pay a visit to the home of Matus Motorsports where Brandon and his father Brent store their cars and work during the week. The focus of tomorrow night’s video session will be race car upkeep and every day sprint car maintenance. Hopefully after tomorrow night, sprint car fans may get a better understanding of what goes on at the shop during the long week nights between races so that the car may make it back to the track the following weekend.
