Rumors were plenty across numerous pits in the Golden State this past weekend, as word of Kyle Larson stepping away from traditional non-winged Sprint Car racing leaked.

The twenty year old from Elk Grove, California was set to make an appearance in Josh Ford Motorsports #73 at Trophy Cup at the Tulare Thunderbowl on October 18th. Today Josh Ford Motorsports confirmed to us that after his horrific crash aboard the Hoffman Racing #69 at Eldora Speedway during the Four Crown Nationals, Ganassi Racing has asked Kyle Larson to step away from non-winged Sprint Car racing.

Larson will still be competing in the winged portion of Trophy Cup behind the Finley Farms #77. Trophy Cup begins Thursday, October 18th with the inaugural run of non-winged Sprint Cars during the event and will pick up with winged Sprints on October 19th and 20th.
