Brent Marks earns pair of top-ten finishes during Ironman weekend; Knoxville Nationals on deck

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

MYERSTOWN, Pa. (August 6, 2018) – Brent Marks’ trip to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 on August 3 & 4 resulted in back-to-back top-ten finishes, one of which impressive enough to clinch KSE Hard Charger Award honors with the Greatest Show On Dirt. For Marks, the momentum boost was important considering his Knoxville Nationals campaign kicks-off on Wednesday.

Marks, driver of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19 sprint car, finished seventh and ninth, respectively, during his two-day visit to Pevely, Mo., for Ironman 55 weekend, qualifying for Friday night’s 55-lap, $20,000-to-win main event by finishing fifth during his respective heat race.

Although ending in an impressive manner, Marks’ top-ten performance on Saturday during the second of two 55-lap, $20,000-to-win main events in Pevely was a product of the Last Chance Showdown, forced to participate in the consolation race after not qualifying for the main event through his respective heat race. A fourth place finish during the evening’s Last Chance Showdown allowed Marks to start 22nd on the feature grid, ultimately charging through the field to finish ninth. For his efforts, the “Myerstown Missile” earned the evening’s KSE Hard Charger Award.

Brent Marks will continue his 2018 campaign with the 58th Annual Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, Iowa, on August 8-11. The pinnacle of sprint car racing, Marks’ Knoxville Nationals campaign will begin on Wednesday evening with preliminary competition. If enough points are earned over the course of the program, Marks will automatically qualify for Saturday night’s $150,000-to-win main event. Marks qualified for the Knoxville Nationals B-main in 2017 and was scored 20th.

“It feels good to have a little bit of a momentum boost on our side heading into the Nationals,” Brent Marks explained, who owns two World of Outlaws victories thus far in 2018. “This is the peak of our schedule. Although, we have a lot of racing ahead of us and a lot of big events circled on our calendar, everyone has their aim on Knoxville. It’s an event everyone wants to be at. We’ve been in the big show before. I think we are more than capable of being in the mix this year.”
