PENNDEL, Pa. (January 7, 2018) – Brett Michalski learned a lot during his first, full season in the 410 sprint car ranks, and although his experience was limited and the competition was high, the 360 sprint car transplant built enough momentum and speed to be competitive in the Pigeon Hills and eventually clinch Rookie of the Year honors at the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway.

Snagging a heat race victory in the process, Michalski’s season at Lincoln Speedway ended eleventh in the final standings, 565 points behind Kyle Moody for a spot inside the top ten. The Penndel, Pa., native finished 13th during his final points start of the season.

Michalski, a United Racing Club (URC) graduate who finished eighth and 11th, respectively, in the final URC standings in 2016 and 2017, will follow similar footsteps in 2019 and continue to make Lincoln Speedway his weekly home, also making occasional visits to the Port Royal Speedway ‘Speed Palace’ in addition to regulars visits to BAPS Motor Speedway.

“It was a fun year for our team. We have a lot of people to thank. They know who they are and we wouldn’t be in this position without their hard work and dedication,” Brett Michalski explained. “Racing in Central Pennsylvania is highly competitive. It’s the best weekly competition in the country. Racing at that level is only going to make us better as a team, and me better as a driver. We’re pretty pumped to get the new year underway.”

The off-season is a short season on the Central Pennsylvania circuit. Action is scheduled begin with the annual Icebreaker at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, February 23. Michalski kicked off his 2018 campaign in similar fashion, ending the $4,000-to-win, afternoon program 13th in the running order.
