2020 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: 832-points – third (34-points behind championship leader, Logan Schuchart)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 25, 2020) – Donny Schatz’ weekend visit to I-55 in Pevely, Missouri, was complete with success, as well as perseverance, not only earning back-to-back top-ten finishes with the Greatest Show On Dirt, but ultimately capping his weekend with an impressive rally from a provisional starting position – 25th on the grid – to finish eighth at the end of 40 circuits.

Battling his way to tenth by lap 30, the Fargo, North Dakota-native was forced to utilize a World of Outlaws provisional after missing a transfer position in the evening’s Last Chance Showdown. To make matters more difficult, a substandard qualifying effort forced Schatz to race in one of two non-qualifiers races; he rallied from seventh to earn a spot in a heat race.

Schatz kicked-off his weekend on the highbanks of I-55 with a seventh-place score on Friday after starting 11th. A third-place finish during his respective heat race secured Schatz’ main event starting spot.

The pair of top-ten outcomes propelled the ten-time World of Outlaws champion to third in the championship chase; Schatz entered the weekend fourth in the Series standings.

Donny Schatz and the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Advance Professional/Carquest Auto Parts/Technet Professional Automotive Service/Ford Performance/Mobil 1/Sage Fruit/Curb Records/Absolute Automation & Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Digital Ally/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car team will continue their 2020 World of Outlaws championship quest with another Missouri doubleheader, this time at the Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri, on Friday and Saturday, May 29-30.

Most recently, Schatz earned a World of Outlaws victory at Lake Ozark Speedway during a visit in 2018. The $10,000 triumph was the product of row two, taking command with a big move on lap seven and never looking back.

Rico Abreu rallies to 13th with WoO during Pevely finale

Dates: Friday and Saturday, May 22nd & 23rd
Event: World of Outlaws at I-55
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Missouri)
Rico Abreu Finishes (Start):
Friday: B-Main – 7th (9th)
Saturday: A-Main – 13th (19th)

ST. HELENA, Calif. (May 25, 2020) – Once again joining the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu made the trip from his Indiana-based, Midwest headquarters to the highbanks of Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 during the recent weekend, entering back-to-back nights with the Greatest Show On Dirt in search of another $20,000 top prize. Although Abreu’s results were short of the podium, the two-time Ironman 55 champion put on a hard-fought performance on Saturday to finish 13th after starting from row ten.

Adding a little drama to his Saturday night result, Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil/Priority Aviation/Self Made Racing/Salty’s BBQ/ShopRico.com/No. 24 sprint car, suffered from a flat tire during his rally from 19th to 13th and was forced to restart at the tail of the field. Abreu was racing in the 11th position when the flat tire occurred.

Abreu opened his two-day visit to I-55 with a B-Main appearance on Friday, finishing seventh after starting ninth to miss main event action by three spots. There were over 60 cars on the grounds for each of the World of Outlaws programs.

“It was a good recovery for my team. I’m proud of these guys. We’re starting to get more and more comfortably with the car. It just takes laps. We’re getting there,” Rico Abreu said. “I just can’t thank everyone enough for their support, my partners and fans included. It takes a lot to move this team up and down the road and I wouldn’t be where I am today without everyone’s love and support.”

Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing have not finalized plans for the coming weekend, but fans should stay alert on social media for continuing updates pertaining to Rico Abreu’s racing agenda.

Dietrich shows speed in Pevely; All Star commitments ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (May 25, 2020) – Although the team’s final results were shy of the ultimate goal, Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing displayed a lot of speed during their visit to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri, and highlighted the World of Outlaws doubleheader with a 16th-place finish on Friday night, May 22. A fifth-place finish during heat race competition secured Dietrich’s spot in the 30-lap preliminary main event.

Despite recording the tenth-fastest time during his respective group of qualifying time trials, the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania-native had to settle with being the ‘odd man out’ during the entire Saturday program, first missing a heat race transfer slot by one position, only to miss the evening’s $20,000-to-win, 40-lap feature grid with a fifth-place run during the Last Chance Showdown. There were 61 cars that made the call on Saturday night.

“Those weren’t the results we wanted, but we showed a lot of speed and I’m proud of my team for that,” Dietrich said, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car. “I can’t thank Gary Kauffman enough for giving us the chance to pack up and leave home for a while. We’re lucky to have a lot of great support from not only our owner, but our partners and fans.”

For the foreseeable future, Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will switch focus and hit the road full-time with the All Star Circuit of Champions, kicking things off with a doubleheader at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, South Dakota, on Friday and Saturday, May 29-30. The Park Jefferson double will award a total winner’s share equalling $13,200; $6,600 each evening.

In addition to South Dakota, Danny Dietrich’s All Star commitments will send the driver of the familiar No. 48 to areas within Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and Louisiana between May 29 and June 14. The five-state road trip will include nine different facilities, all new to the 2019 Central PA Sprint Car Series and Williams Grove Speedway champion.

“We’re excited for the challenge. With the way things are in Pennsylvania, this was a great opportunity for us to hit the road and race a lot over the next few weeks. I’ve always enjoyed racing with the All Stars and we’ve had some success with the Series. We hope to continue that success this weekend,” Dietrich stated. “The goal is to conclude this All Star swing in a position near the top of the standings. If that’s the case, we’ll be more than tempted to see things through and race for a championship. We are out here to win.”

Zearfoss battles with WoO for top-five at I-55; Park Jefferson stops with MSTS and All Stars ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

JONESTOWN, Pa. (May 25, 2020) – It was an action-packed doubleheader for Jonestown, Pennsylvania’s Brock Zearfoss during the recent weekend, capping his two-day visit to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri, on Friday and Saturday, May 22-23, with a pair of World of Outlaws A-Main starts and one top-five finish.

Zearfoss’ top-five outcome occurred during the $20,000-to-win finale on Saturday. Starting third on the A-Main grid after finishing third during the evening’s dash, Zearfoss’ performance was just as exciting and it was impressive, exchanging multiple slide jobs on consecutive laps throughout the entire 40-lap contest. After a seemingly never-ending battle with Logan Schuchart, Brad Sweet and Brent Marks, Zearfoss faded slightly to finish fifth at the final checkers. Sixty-one cars made the call on Saturday night.

The ‘Jonestown Jet’ kicked-off his weekend with the Greatest Show On Dirt with a 12th- place finish on Friday after starting 18th.. Zearfoss qualified for the 30-lap main event after finishing fifth during his respective heat race.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Big names in racing give positive feedback on all-new racing app, chckrd

BYRAM, Conn. (May 21, 2020) – As the chckrd community continues to grow, subscribers are beginning to talk, and to no user’s surprise, the talk is consistently positive.

With much of the app’s recent growth coming from the devoted dirt community, chckrd Founder and Crew Chief, Chris Muller, has been keeping a close ear on what subscribers have to say. With the intent to maintain the app’s mission in providing subscribers with an all-racing, distraction-free environment, Muller understands it’s vital to pay attention to the end users and listen to what they have to say.

Muller states, “This was built for the racing community. Who are we to tell them what their community app should or shouldn’t be? Chckrd is the platform. The way it looks and works is really up to the members, they’re the ones that spend time on the app and we are dedicated to shaping it to their needs and wants.”

Jonestown, Pennsylvania’s Brock Zearfoss, a sprint car phenom who owns All Star Circuit of Champions, World of Outlaws and large-paying open victories, was one of the first full-time racers to subscribe to chckrd.

“I think it’s a great app. It’s clean, it’s easy; it’s exactly what racing needs,” said Zearfoss. “I find myself getting on chckrd as often as I get on any other social media app. I enjoy scrolling through the straightaway page and looking at what people have to say. It’s nice to scroll and just see racing. That’s pretty tough to do anywhere else.”

St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu, another open wheel star who made his name winning some of the nation’s biggest grassroots events including the coveted Chili Bowl Midget Nationals on multiple occasions, also provided some positive insight.

“I hope more people get involved and the app takes off. Other apps get really cluttered and it’s easy to lose your place. chckrd gives the racers and fans somewhere else to go,” Abreu stated. “It’s really clean and easy to scroll through to see what everyone is posting. Chris (Muller) is a really passionate guy. If anyone is able to make something like this work, it’s Chris Muller. He’s open to what people have to say and is always working to improve the app.”

Muller continued, “Last Friday, a member suggested we start a Micro Sprint Group and we had it up and running by Tuesday. We just launched the Crew Group off of a recommendation, as well.”

The ‘Texas Traveler’ T.J. Michael, a recent FAST Series winner in the winged sprint car ranks, as well as Danny Dietrich, the 2019 Williams Grove Speedway sprint car champion, also spoke up on chckrd’s behalf, each giving full approval.

“It’s another place for racers to showcase their partners. And it’s a perfect place for people to go who are seeking ways to help racers. We hope to take full advantage of it,” Michael said. “Plus, it’s fun. It’s a win for everyone.”

“I see this going somewhere,” Dietrich expressed. “Content can get lost pretty quickly on the big social media pages. chckrd is pretty cut-n-dry. What you see is what you get and what you see is racing. That’s what people are there for.”

About chckrd:
Launched in April of 2020, chckrd was developed for the sole purpose for which it was intended, motorsports. The subscription-based app gives the motorsports community a racing specific social platform to share information pertaining to everything on wheels. After subscribing and building a profile, users have the availability to join a variety of groups specific to their racing interests. In addition, members ultimately benefit racing, as portions of their subscription is designated to increase monthly purses. chckrd is currently available in the Android and Apple Marketplaces.

Brock Zearfoss 16th in Great Lakes Shootout opener; Missouri visit ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

JONESTOWN, Pa. (May 18, 2020) – Joining a field of nearly 60 race teams from all corners of the country, some of which full-time All Star and World of Outlaws competitors, Jonestown, Pennsylvania’s Brock Zearfoss made his presence known during his visit to Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota, on Friday, May 15, and earned a spot in the Great Lakes Shootout preliminary main event.

A third place finish during heat race competition sealed Zearfoss’ fate, maintaining a transfer position after starting second on the grid.

Although his Friday evening feature result fell short of a top-ten outcome, Zearfoss’ bounce from 18th to 16th scored important test laps, which will come in handy when the former Port Royal Speedway track champion faces-off against the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on the highbanks of Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 on Friday and Saturday, May 22-23.

Saturday’s Great Lakes Shootout finale was eventually cancelled due to rain.

“It was a pretty productive night for our team. I think we were better than where we finished, but we’ll take the lap time and move on. That’s all you can do; learn from results and move on to the next one,” Brock Zearfoss said, driver of the Brock Zearfoss Racing/Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill/Heavy Equipment, Loaders & Parts Inc./C&D Rigging Inc./BAPS Auto Paints & Supply/Meckley’s Limestone Products/Berkebile Oil Company/Klick Lewis Cars/J.P. Adamsky Trucking/No. 3Z sprint car. “We have a busy few weeks ahead, so we’re ready to get rolling. We’re privileged to have a group of partners who believe in us and support our efforts out on the road. More good things are ahead for us.”

After a weekend in Pevely, Missouri, where the team will battle the Outlaws for a total winner’s share equalling $16,000, Brock Zearfoss and Brock Zearfoss Racing will finally have the opportunity to return to All Star Circuit of Champions competition, as the Series is set to visit Park Jefferson International Speedway in North Sioux City, South Dakota, on Friday and Saturday, May 29-30. The All Star doubleheader, the first weekend of competition for the Series since its four-race swing in Florida during the month of February, will award a pair of $5,000 top prizes.

Zearfoss is certainly no stranger to action at Park Jefferson International Speedway, recently earning the $6,000 Open Wheel Nationals victory on April 25.

Tony Stewart advances six spots during Jackson Motorplex visit

Dates: Friday and Saturday, May 15th-16th
Event: Great Lakes Shootout
Series: Open Event
Track: Jackson Motorplex (Jackson, Minnesota)
Tony Stewart A-Main Finishes (Start):
Friday: 17th (23rd)
Saturday: Cancelled/Rain

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 18, 2020) – For the first time since March 7, ‘Smoke’ Tony Stewart returned to the captain’s chair of his familiar No. 14 winged sprint car and joined a loaded field of nearly 60 entries for Jackson Motorplex’s Great Lakes Shootout on Friday and Saturday, May 15-16. Although Saturday’s finale was eventually cancelled due to wet weather, the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion made the most of this Friday night start at the state-of-the-art facility, ultimately qualifying for the 25-lap, $5,000-to-win showstopper.

Forced to do things the hard way, Stewart, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Advance Auto Parts/Mobil 1/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/FloRacing/Carquest/TechNet Professional Automotive Service/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Absolute Automation & Security/Digital Ally/No. 14 sprint car, earned his way onto the A-main grid by finishing third during the first of two consolation B-mains. From there, Stewart advanced from 23rd to finish 17th at the end of 25 circuits.

“It feels good to be back in a sprint car,” Tony Stewart said, a ten-time sprint car winner in 2019. “The last thing you want to do at one of these races and leave yourself in a hole because it’s tough to get back out. Lucky for me, I have a team that never stops working to improve. We were able to recover out of the B-main and turn some solid laps in the feature.”

Although a sound recovery, Smoke’s Jackson Motorplex finish snapped a six-race top-ten streak that has been accumulating since action in the Sunshine State in February. To date, Stewart owns five top-five finishes and six top-ten finishes in seven starts.

Tony Stewart and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing are unsure of future plans. Fans are encouraged to stay alert via social media for any breaking news pertaining to the team and their event schedule.

Earning the evening’s pole position after scoring heat race and dash victories, Schatz went on to lead the first ten circuits of the 25-lap main event before losing the top spot to fellow Outlaw, Sheldon Haudenschild. Navigating slower cars, Haudenschild was able to drive around the ten-time World of Outlaws champion as the pair battled through turns three and four to complete lap 11.

Brad Sweet, the defending WoO champion and eventual Great Lakes Shootout preliminary winner, also slipped by Schatz, snagging the runner-up spot with 13 circuits remaining.

With track conditions becoming increasingly abrasive, Schatz’ efforts to regain the lost spots were halted; he finished third.

The two-day visit will award a total winner’s share equalling $16,000; $6,000 on Friday and $10,000 on Saturday.

Schatz is a former World of Outlaws winner on the highbanks of I-55, most recently scoring the Prelude to the Ironman victory in 2015. The Fargo, North Dakota-native will enter the weekend fourth in the World of Outlaws championship standings on the strength of one Series victory thus far in 2020.
