Abreu ninth during visit to Silver Dollar Speedway

Date: Friday, April 19th
Event: Championship Points Race #4
Series: Weekly 360c.i. sprint cars
Track: Silver Dollar Speedway (Chico, Calif.)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finish (Start): 9th (3rd)

ST. HELENA, Calif. (April 22, 2019) – Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing continued their 2019 campaign with a round of 360c.i. sprint car competition at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday, April 19. Although the trip to Chico resulted in a finish below personal expectations, the end-result was still a top-ten performance; finishing ninth, officially, after starting on the inside of row two.

The top-ten result bumped Rico Abreu’s top-ten total to nine thus far in 2019, still in the hunt for his first trip to victory lane.

On a positive note, Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu Racing did their best to bring some light to those affected by the devastating California Camp Fire. The team donated meat to those displaced by the fires still living at Silver Dollar Fairgrounds.

“The wild fires in northern California affected so many people. We wanted to help in one way or another, so we decided to donate meat to the families still living at Silver Dollar Fairgrounds,” Rico Abreu explained, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Southern Pacific Farms/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car. “It was a rewarding experience.”

Like prior seasons, Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will now switch focus from the West Coast to the Midwest, setting aim on an array of events while competing with a multitude of sprint car series.

An exact schedule has yet to be determined, but more news and information pertaining to an updated schedule will be released at a later date. Fans are encouraged to stay alert via social media for further updates.

Cory Haas rolls to a top-five at the Speed Palace

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

YORK, Pa. (April 22, 2019) – It was a tough decision to make, but the end-result was worth the debate.

Instead of visiting the Pigeon Hills for the $6,900-to-win Weldon Sterner Memorial on April 20, Cory Haas, driver of the Trone Outdoor Motorsports/Old Republic Distillery/Creekside Auto Sales/Trone Outdoor Advertising/Wicked Cushion/No. 39 sprint car, made the trip to Port Royal Speedway on Saturday afternoon, joining many of Pennsylvania’s finest for another round weekly competition at the coveted ‘Speed Palace.’

Although the evening was delayed due to Mother Nature, things eventually heated up with Haas racing on to score his second top-five performance of the 2019 season. The York-native finished fifth during the 25-lap main event, battling within the top-five the entire distance after starting second on the feature grid. In fact, Haas owned the second spot the first 13 circuits.

Haas finished second during heat race action to kick off his night at the Juniata County Fairgrounds.

“It was a good day for us. I’m happy we made the trip to Port Royal,” Cory Haas explained, who also owns a top-five finish at Williams Grove Speedway this season. “I’m pretty sure we didn’t make an official decision to go to Port Royal until 10 a.m. on Saturday. Regardless, we’re happy with how things turned out. The car keeps getting better and better and that’s exciting, especially with big races coming up quick on the schedule.”

Cory Haas and Trone Outdoor Motorsports will continue their 2019 campaign with another action-packed weekend in the Keystone State. Although destinations have yet to be set in stone, the initial plan is to visit Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, April 26, followed by a return to the Port Royal ‘Speed Palace’ on Saturday, April 27.

“It was just one of those nights. Unfortunately, we seem to be running into that situation a lot lately, but things will turn up. Port Royal Speedway becomes fourth track on Danny Dietrich’s 2019 win list

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (April 22, 2019) – Danny Dietrich is not only adding victories to his win list, but he is also adding tracks, now with one victory at four different Central Pennsylvania venues thus far in 2019.

Dietrich, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Weikert’s Livestock/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts/Drop Of Ink Tattoo/Sweeney Cars/Self Made/No. 48 sprint car, earned his fourth victory of 2019 during competition at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday, April 20.

Impressive enough, Dietrich earned his first Port Royal win of 2019 from the outside of row four, eventually forced to outduel former Port Royal Speedway champion, Brock Zearfoss, during a restart with one lap remaining. In fact, Zearfoss gained control over Dietrich as the pair battled through turns one and two on the final circuit. A last minute misdirection by Dietrich to drive back under Zearfoss at the exit of turn two solidified his victory.

After starting eighth on the grid, ‘Double-D’ charged to fourth by the completion of lap one, eventually snagging second from Cory Haas on lap 14, each before taking command from George Hobaugh on lap 19.

“It’s tough to not be pumped up over this one,” Danny Dietrich said, who earned ten victories in 2018, two being at Port Royal Speedway. “I can’t say enough about this team right now. We tossed and turned on the idea about going to Port Royal. It was tough, especially with Lincoln paying some bonus money. Our eye is on the big Port Royal prize at the end of May. We came here to get ready for the Weikert Memorial. I think things are really looking up.”

Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will continue their 2019 campaign with a trio of starts in the Keystone State, first visiting Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, April 26, followed by a return to the ‘Speed Palace’ on Saturday, April 27. If all goes well, Dietrich will cap off his weekend with the Ray Tilley Classic at Selinsgrove Speedway on Sunday, April 28.

Zearfoss rallies from 11th to finish second at Port Royal Speedway; Attica, Wayne County ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

JONESTOWN, Pa. (April 22, 2019) – Despite Brock Zearfoss’ initial plan to visit Attica Raceway Park with the All Star Circuit of Champions getting washed away, the ‘Jonestown Jet’ made the best of his wet weekend and rejoined the infamous Pennsylvania Posse for another round of weekly action at the Port Royal Speedway ‘Speed Palace’ on Saturday, April 20.

Taking part in an exciting outcome, to say the least, Brock Zearfoss rallied from 11th to finish second at the ‘Speed Palace’ on Saturday night, nearly earning the victory spoils with a last lap maneuver around Gettysburg’s Danny Dietrich. Although impressive, Zearfoss’ last lap effort was ultimately overturned by Dietrich’s crossover move at the exit of turn two; Dietrich drove on to score the win.

“This team is strong right now and it feels great. I can’t say enough about their hard work and dedication. It sucks our All Star plans were washed away, but we made the best of it and it worked out,” Brock Zearfoss said, driver of the Premier Motorsports/Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill/Heavy Equipment, Loaders & Parts Inc./BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Meckley’s Limestone Products/Berkebile Oil Company/No. 70 sprint car. “We were good enough to win that race, but things just weren’t meant to be. We’ll try again this Friday and Saturday with the All Stars.”

Brock Zearfoss will continue his 2019 campaign with another round of All Star Circuit of Champions competition on Friday and Saturday, April 26 & 27. The Jonestown, Pa., native will join ‘America’s Series’ at Attica Raceway Park for the rescheduled Core & Main Spring Nationals on Friday, April 26, followed by a stop at ‘Orrville’s Historic Oval’ – Wayne County Speedway – on Saturday, April 27. Zearfoss will enter the weekend tied for ninth in the current All Star Circuit of Champions driver standings, padded by a podium run at Virginia Motor Speedway.

Abreu earns back-to-back top-ten finishes during Stockton’s Asparagus Cup

Date: Friday, April 12th
Event: Asparagus Cup Night #1
Series: Sprint Car Challenge Tour (SCCT)
Track: Stockton Dirt Track (Stockton, Calif.)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finish (Start): 5th (24th)

Date: Saturday, April 13th
Event: Asparagus Cup Night #2
Series: Sprint Car Challenge Tour (SCCT)
Track: Stockton Dirt Track (Stockton, Calif.)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finish (Start): 9th (9th)

ST. HELENA, Calif. (April 15, 2019) – Although showing some signs of frustration, Rico Abreu’s two-day visit to the Stockton Dirt Track with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour (SCCT) resulted in success, wrapping up Asparagus Cup competition with a pair of top-ten performances, one of which the result of an incredible charge from dead last to finish fifth.

Certainly a premier 360c.i. event in northern California, the second annual Asparagus Cup awarded $10,000 on Friday and $15,000 on Saturday.

Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Southern Pacific Farms/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car, finished fifth and ninth, respectively, during his Stockton trip, highlighting the weekend with an impressive mount from 24th to finish fifth on Friday, April 12.

Although impressive, Abreu’s rally from last was the result of a failed attempt to transfer through his respective heat race. The St. Helena, California-native was forced to race the evening’s B-main where he advanced from the outside of row five to finish third. That momentum boost soon led to Abreu’s impressive hard charge during the Asparagus Cup opener.

Abreu’s trip to Stockton Dirt Track concluded with a ninth place finish during the $15,000-to-win Asparagus Cup finale on Saturday, April 13; he started in the exact same position.

“The weekend was definitely exciting, but that’s not what we had in mind. I’m glad the fans enjoyed the show, but we certainly had to do things the hard way on Friday,” Rico Abreu explained, who is still hunting for his first victory of 2019. “Things were certainly a lot calmer on Saturday, but we still fell short of our goals. We still have some things to figure out with this car. I have a hard working team. We’ll get to where we need to be very soon.”

Rico Abreu will return to competition this Friday and Saturday, April 19 & 20, with another pair of 360c.i. events in northern California, this time visiting Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico on Friday, followed by a trip to Placerville Speedway on Saturday.

Donny Schatz earns top-five during visit to Devil’s Bowl Speedway

Dates: Friday & Saturday, April 12th & 13th
Event: Texas Outlaw Nationals
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Devil’s Bowl Speedway (Mesquite, Texas)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finishes (Start):
Friday: 5th (6th)
Saturday: Cancelled/Rain

2019 World of Outlaws Championship Standings: 2nd – 1682 points (two points behind Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (April 15, 2019) – Despite the weekend ultimately cut in half due to wet weather invading much of Texas on Saturday afternoon, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz made the most of his trip to Devil’s Bowl Speedway with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and continued his impressive stretch of consistency with another top-ten performance on Friday night, April 12.

Schatz, a former Texas Outlaw Nationals champion at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, finished fifth, officially, during his visit to Mesquite, improving one position after starting sixth on the evening’s grid. Faced with abrasive track conditions, the Devil’s Bowl Speedway surface eventually fell victim to rubber, soon creating a narrow lane for competition.

The driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car kicked off his evening at Devil’s Bowl Speedway with a second place finish during heat race action, soon followed by a sixth place run during the evening’s dash.

“I’ve always enjoyed racing at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. We’ve had some success there, so that makes it easy to go back,” Donny Schatz said regarding the Texas Outlaw Nationals. “I think we were better than where we finished, but consistency is important. We’ll take this and move forward.”

Donny Schatz will enjoy an off-weekend before returning to World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competition on Friday through Sunday, April 26-28, with a three-day sweep through areas of Missouri and Illinois. The ten-time and defending World of Outlaws champion will visit Lake Ozark (Mo.) Speedway, Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., and Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway during his three-day trek, ultimately working to takeover the World of Outlaws point lead, as well as add a few more marks in the win column.

In fact, Donny Schatz is the defending World of Outlaws winner at Lake Ozark Speedway, scoring $10,000 over David Gravel and Kerry Madsen from the inside of row two.
