ST. HELENA, Calif. (July 15, 2019) – For the third time in 2019 and for the first time during his summer stint in the Midwest, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu earned his way to victory lane, this time surging ahead from the outside of row two during MOWA Sprint Car Series competition at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois.

Taking advantage of his A-main starting position, Abreu earned the top spot in a hurry, advancing from fourth to first by the completion of lap one. From that point forward, it was all Rico Abreu in central Illinois, eventually leading all 25 circuits to snag the $2,000 top prize.

Abreu has been victorious with MOWA in the past, most recently scoring a hard-charging victory during competition at Jacksonville Speedway in early October.

“It was a solid night for our team. We needed that, especially with so many races on our upcoming schedule. We are going to be busy, so the extra momentum boost will be big,” Rico Abreu said, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Southern Pacific Farms/Priority Aviation/Self Made Racing/Dancer Logistics/No. 24 sprint car. “I can’t say enough about this team. They work hard and it shows. I’m excited to get back to Attica and Eldora.”

Rico Abreu continued his recent weekend with a visit to the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, July 13. Utilizing the trip as a test session for upcoming events including the coveted Knoxville Nationals, Abreu concluded his visit to south-central Iowa with a sixth place finish during main event competition, advancing four positions after starting tenth on the grid.

Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will next set aim on five straight nights with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, first invading the home of ‘Ohio’s Finest Racing’ – Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, for the annual Brad Doty Classic on July 16.

The next four evenings will all be centered around the highbanks of Eldora Speedway, as Rico Abreu plans to enter #LetsRaceTwo competition on Wednesday evening, July 17, followed by three straight nights of Kings Royal action on Thursday through Saturday, July 18-20. The entire four-day stretch will be capped with an unprecedented, $175,000-to win Kings Royal main event.

Track: Wilmot Raceway (Wilmot, Wis.)

2019 World of Outlaws Championship Standings: 2nd – 5152 points (38 points behind Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 15, 2019) – A perfect momentum shift entering a busy stretch through the Buckeye State, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing capped their recent two-race swing through Michigan and Wisconsin with back-to-back World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series podium performances, one of which a victory during action in southern Wisconsin. The victory, the fourth of the season for the Fargo native, pushed Schatz within 38 points of the World of Outlaws championship point lead.

Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car, earned his trip to victory lane during action at Wilmot Raceway on Saturday, July 13. A convincing victory, Schatz led all 40 circuits from the pole position, surviving early challenges from Daryn Pittman before keeping David Gravel at bay during the closing laps. It was Schatz’ first-ever victory at Wilmot Raceway.

“I’m sure somebody was coming there at the end,” Schatz said in Wilmot Raceway victory lane. “I was kind of hanging. We could get through a few lap cars, but then when I had to move around in (turns) one and two I wasn’t as good. But glad to get a win. It’s been a while. Always feels good to get the win, especially here in Wisconsin.”

Before capturing his fourth victory of the season, Schatz scored a third place finish during action at Hartford Speedway on Friday, July 12. A late restart would give Schatz an opportunity to climb two spots to score the Hartford win, but unfortunately, the ten-time and defending World of Outlaws champion was unable to capitalize.

Up next on the schedule, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will set aim on five straight nights of action beginning Tuesday evening, July 16, at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio. The annual Brad Doty Classic is on the Tuesday night agenda, an event Schatz conquered for $10,000 in 2018.

Following his visit to Attica Raceway Park, Schatz will spend four nights at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track – Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The #LetsRaceTwo make-up event, originally slated for Mother’s Day weekend in early May before being halted by Mother Nature, will kick-off the four-day stretch on Wednesday, July 17, followed by three nights of Kings Royal action on Thursday through Saturday, July 18-20. Schatz is a five-time Kings Royal champion, with the 2019 edition awarding an unprecedented $175,000 top prize.

Tony Stewart scores three consecutive All Star top-tens during New York swing

Series: Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1
Tony Stewart Finish (Start): 6th (7th)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 15, 2019) – Tony Stewart’s recent trip to the Empire State was complete with not only success, but also consistency, as the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion earned three straight top-ten performances during Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 competition, two of which podium finishes including a runner-up outcome at Utica-Rome Speedway on Friday, July 12. Impressive enough, Stewart led the first six laps at the Vernon oval, eventually losing the top spot to Aaron Reutzel during an early battle in traffic.

“I’m proud of my team and what we were able to accomplish. The All Stars are a very competitive group. You have to be on top of things every time you are on the race track,” Tony Stewart explained, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 14 sprint car. “We were close a few nights, and we felt really good, we just didn’t have quite what was needed to be on top. Hats off to everyone for making the entire weekend in New York a success.”

Stewart’s visit to Orange County Fair Speedway on Saturday, July 13, also resulted in a podium performance, this time advancing from sixth to finish third on a slick, but racey surface. Better late than never, Stewart did not reach the final position on the podium until lap 24 of 25, eventually working around defending All Star champion, Aaron Reutzel.

Although the weekend ended on a low note for Stewart, finishing sixth on the highbanks of Lebanon Valley Speedway on Sunday, July 14, the level of perseverance displayed to finish sixth was impressive. In fact, Stewart started seventh on the grid and was well on his way to the front when disaster struck in the form of a spin, ultimately sending the Columbus, Indiana-native to the tail of the field with only two laps complete. Not flustered the slightest, Stewart recovered for a top-ten finish, his 28th of the season.

Up next on the schedule, Tony Stewart and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will make the trip to Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario, Canada, for Summer Nationals competition on Monday and Tuesday, July 22 & 23. The two-day, 360c.i. sprint car headliner will award back-to-back $5,000 top prizes.

Westfall earns BOSS Series victory during Fremont Speedway visit

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

FOREST, Ohio (July 15, 2019) – Surviving a near-race-ending cotosphroy on the final circuit, Pleasant Hill, Ohio’s Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports earned their way to victory lane on Saturday night at Fremont Speedway, clinching their second Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) feature win of the season and their first since early April.

Certainly keeping fans on the edge of their seats during their visit to ‘The Track That Action Built,’ contact on the final circuit between Westfall and a battling competitor forced the pilot of the ever-familiar ‘Bumblebee Express’ to perform a 360 degree spin while keeping the engine fired. Caution flags soon followed, as the car that made contact with Westfall also spun, but pulled to a stop. A one lap dash to the final checkers ensued with Westfall maintaining control to clinch his spot in Fremont Speedway victory lane.

Westfall kicked off his evening in northwest Ohio with a runner-up performance during heat race competition.

“What an exciting final lap. I wasn’t too sure how that was going to end, but Matt [Westfall] did what he had to do and it all worked out. I’m happy for the team,” Ray Marshall said, owner of the Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Crazy Lady Restaurant and Bar/Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car. “We were long overdue for a win and I’m happy we were able to get it done at Fremont. These guys have been working very hard and the results certainly show. We hope to take advantage of this momentum boost.”

Before making the trip to Fremont Speedway for BOSS Series competition, Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports made an appearance at Gas City Speedway in Gas City, Indiana, on Friday, July 12. The visit proved successful for the Forest, Ohio-based race team, ending the evening with an impressive climb from 15th to finish sixth.

Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will now look ahead and prepare for an entire slate of USAC National Sprint Car Series events across Ohio and Indiana, all of which beginning with the #LetsRaceTwo make-up at Eldora Speedway on Wednesday, July 17. Westfall will then follow USAC to Gas City Speedway for the first night of Indiana Sprint Week on Thursday, July 18, followed by consecutive Indiana Sprint Week starts at Plymouth Speedway, Kokomo Speedway and Lawrenceburg Speedway on July 18-21.

“It just takes lap time, that’s all,” Brett Michalski explained, the 2018 Lincoln Speedway Rookie of the Year. “We have good weeks and we have so-so weeks, but it’s the fact that we learn every time we hit the race track; that’s the most important part. I’m proud of my team and I’m proud of what we have been able to accomplish at Lincoln Speedway in 2019. We have a lot of racing left on our plate. We’ll keep plugging away and work to get back up front.”

Brett Michalski and Brett Michalski Motorsports will return to competition in Central Pennsylvania during the coming weekend. Lincoln Speedway is on the agenda for Saturday, as well as the possibility of a Williams Grove Speedway start on Friday. Fans are encouraged to stay alert via  social media for continuing updates.
