Championship Weekend on Horizon for ULMS and UEMS at Lernerville’s ‘Steel City Stampede’

Pittsburgh, PA (October 23, 2013) The NDRL’s ULMS Late Models and UEMS Emods will close out their 2013 season this upcoming Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26 at the famous Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania during the 5th Annual ‘Steel City Stampede’ that also includes a practice session on Thursday, October 24.

The ‘Steel City Stampede’, DIRTcar Roundup will be the second visit of the 2013 season for both ULMS and UEMS as 2013 Lernerville Speedway track champion, Alex Ferree picked up the win on Friday, July 19, just six days after claiming his first career ULMS win at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway the week before. Dave Hess Jr., of Waterford, Pennsylvania claimed the UEMS portion of the program back in July.

Mike Knight of Ripley, New York wrapped up his second ULMS points championship in three years by virtue of his attendance of the NDRL’s 25th Annual ‘Pittsburgher 100’ at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway. Knight’s 55 point lead heading into Lernerville’s ‘Steel City Stampede’ is too much for second place and defending ULMS champion Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pennsylvania to overcome. Centerville, Pennsylvania’s Robbie Blair is locked into third in the championship standings while Matt Urban from North East, Pennsylvania is fourth just ahead of fifth place Jason Dupont of Cyclone, Pennsylvania. Greg Oakes, Russell King, Dave Hess Jr., Brent Rhebergen, and David Scott round out the top-ten.

Steve Dixon of Smethport, Pennsylvania has also locked up the championship with the UEMS A&MP Electric Emods. Olean, New York’s Randy Hall is second, 72 points ahead of car owner and teammate Vic Vena of Portville, New York. Mars, Pennsylvania’s Carl McKinney sits fourth in the point standings 23 points ahead of Conneaut, Ohio’s Joel Watson. Ken Zimmer is sixth followed by Dave Hess Jr. and most recent ULMS winner Jonathan Taylor. Brent Rhebergen sits ninth, 40 points ahead of Shane Crotty who rounds out the top-ten.

There is a $50.00 entry fee for ULMS Late Models and a $25.00 entry fee for UEMS Modifieds for this event. RACEceivers are mandatory and transponders will be required. On Thursday, pits open at 3:00pm with practice from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. On Friday, pits open at 3:00pm with racing at 7:00pm. On Saturday, pits open at 12:00pm with racing at 6:00pm.

Lernerville is a 4/10-mile high-banked clay oval located 11 miles southeast of Butler, Pa. on Route 356 at 313 North Pike Road, Sarver, PA 16055.
