PITTSBURGH, PA — The racing action at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway continues this Saturday, September 7th, as we present a five division action event starring the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models, the Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Models, Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman, Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks and the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns. The evening’s racing action, which is being sponsored by Colussy Chevrolet, will also include the fourth and final installment of Wacky Wheels Figure Eight Mania. In addition, future racers will have the opportunity to compete on the “Monster Half Mile” as the kids bike races will take place at intermission. This week’s pre-race activities will include members of the Steel Town Corvette Club who will have their vehicles on display behind the main grandstand. Colussy Chevrolet, the nation’s oldest Chevrolet dealer, will also have a display of the 2013 and 2014 Chevy vehicles that are currently available at their dealership.

“It’s difficult to believe that the points battles will come to end this week,” commented speedway owner Matt Miley. “The racing action has been great each and every week and fans of all ages are encouraged to take in this Saturday’s events as we have something planned for just about everyone; from the kids bike races to the Steel Town Corvette Club’s display. We will also be recognizing Colussy Chevrolet, which is the oldest Chevy dealership in the nation, as they are sponsoring this Saturday’s racing card.”

Going into the final night of the points battle only two of the speedway’s five divisional titles have been secured. Second generation driver Christian Schneider has claimed his first ever title in Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stock action. The Robinson Township teenager captured ten victories in the division before moving into the Late Model Sportsman Division. Lady Racer Hannah Ramsey sits in the second spot and also has a lock on the runner-up spot. Like Schneider, Ramsey is also a Robinson Township resident and she scored a hugely popular win last Saturday evening.

Kyle Lukon sits atop the Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Model standings and will officially claim the title this Saturday. Lukon scored five wins en-route to the title and has battles off challenges from his sister, Laura, Mark Moats and Justin Lamb to secure his third divisional title at the Imperial, PA oval.

Alex Ferree has claimed the last two Super Late Model victories here at PPMS and currently holds a slim nine point lead over Michael Norris. Ferree was crowned the Late Model champion at the Lernerville Speedway last week and will be looking to continue his winning ways this weekend. Norris, a third generation driver, is also the defending Super Late Model champion at the speedway, but he has battled mechanical problems after starting out the 2013 season with an opening day victory. Norris also scored wins on April 27, May 18 and June 15th but the Sarver, PA resident has been shut out of the win column since that time. Veterans Jim Stephans, Ben Miley and Lynn Geisler round out the top five in the points chase.

Dylan Bolind and Roman O’Neill are currently battling for the top spot in Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns action. Bolind, who is 14 years of age, has secured nine feature wins in his first full season of racing action while the 15 year old O’Neill has picked up four victories.

Veteran Nick Kocuba of nearby Imperial, PA leads the Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman points battle over Joey Koteles and Bill Robertson. Kocuba has used consistency to maintain his lead throughout the season. The likeable veteran has two feature wins and has rarely finished outside of the top five in feature action this season. Like Kocuba, Koteles has used consistency to stay in the title hunt. Robertson has captured five wins this season and remains within striking distance.

The members of the Steel Town Corvette Club will also be in attendance this Saturday. The club was founded in 1972 by Corvette race car driver, builder and team sponsor Don Yenko and champion driver Donna Mae Mimms. The club now boasts nearly 200 members and they hold a variety of events throughout the Pittsburgh area. Many of their members will have their Corvettes on display behind the main grandstand prior to the evening’s racing action so fans of all ages are encouraged to arrive early to see the Corvettes “up close.”

This week’s intermission will feature the future stars of racing as children ages one to 16 will have the opportunity to battle each other in the always popular Kids Bike Races. Trophies and ribbons will be awarded. Parents are also reminded that helmets are required for all participants.

Adult Grandstand Admission for Saturday’s racing action is $15.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $14.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $10.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Denise.

Pit Admission for this week’s racing action is $30.00.

Fans may bring their own refreshments however; glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. In addition, coolers are limited to 14 inches or smaller in size. Don’t forget that the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of delicious food like hot and juicy quarter pound cheeseburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, curly fries and cotton candy at “fan friendly prices.”

Race fans over the age of 21 can purchase alcoholic beverages at Ed’s Pub, which is located under the main grandstand. Ed’s features all major brands of beer plus wine, mixed drinks, and energy drinks at local tavern type pricing!
