MAUMEE, OH by Bryan Autullo – F.A.S.T. Public Relations

The heat of summer is upon the Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title presented by Engine Pro and KS Sales & Service as another weekend of F.A.S.T. action is in the record books. Craig Mintz and Dean Jacobs picked up the 410 wins while D.J. Foos and Bobby Clark scored victories in the 305 division. Foos claimed his 5th win of the season at Attica giving him one of the best current winning percentages in the country in sprint car racing. Jacobs, Mintz, and Bryan Sebetto have each claimed 2 victories in F.A.S.T. competition so far this season, setting up a tight points battle in the 410 ranks for the coveted Kistler Cup trophy.

Going into Friday’s event, Dean Jacobs sat in 5th place in the point standings, but the Wooster, OH native has his eyes on the prize and put together a weekend run that landed him in the top spot when the checkers flew on Saturday night. Bryan Sebetto, who was the points leader prior to this weekend, ended his night early with a front stretch mishap on Lap 1 on Friday. Craig Mintz picked up the Attica win and that vaulted him into the points lead – at least temporarily. Mintz finished in 9th place on Saturday while Jacobs came from his 14th starting position to claim the checkers. Mintz fell back to 3rd behind Jacobs and Sebetto with just 18 points separating the Top 3 drivers at the season half-way mark. Sebetto leads Mintz by just 1 point. Byron Reed sits in 4th place after finishing 12th on Friday after being collected in an incident, then 2nd on Saturday to salvage the weekend. Phil Gressman rounds out the Top 5 just 58 points out of 1st place. Its still anyone’s championship to win at this point with $10,000 up for grabs.

Chris Andrews, Mike Linder, Brian Smith, Todd Heller, and Brian Lay round out the Top 10 at the mid-season point. Andrews collected two Top 10 finishes this weekend, while Mike Linder was able to pick up two Top 5’s. Brian Smith showed signs of greatness again at Attica on Friday with a 3rd place run that could have been more if has drive line hadn’t started to come apart with 10 laps to go. Smith then drove to an 8th place finish on Saturday with his rear brake locked up, glowing orange, and throwing sparks. Todd Heller collected at 17th and 15th place finish for the weekend while Brian Lay was 8th on Friday and 16th on Saturday.

The F.A.S.T. 305 Series was back in action for Nights #3 and #4 of the 10 race schedule. D.J. Foos continued his dominance at Attica on Friday picking up another win, his 5th of the season there of the 8 races run. His 4th place finish on Saturday extended D.J.’s season points lead to 45 points over Caleb Griffith who finished 5th on Friday and had another good run going on Saturday, but an early incident sent him to the tail where he charged back to a 13th place finish. John Ivy finished runner up to Foos on Friday and then 8th on Saturday putting him 52 points behind Foos in 3rd place. Nate Dussel took a hard tumble on Friday night in Attica heat race action, but was able to put the car back together and manage an 8th place run in the A-main followed by a 7th place finish at Fremont on Saturday. Jamie Miller rounds out the Top 5 with a 7th place finish at Attica and a 3rd place finish at Fremont.

Dustin Dinan, Paige Polyak, Jason Keckler, Jimmy Colvin, and Matt Merrill make up the rest of the Top 10 with just 6 F.A.S.T. events remaining on the schedule. Dinan had two solid finishes on the weekend with a 4th at Attica and a 6th at Fremont. Polyak suffered mechanical issues at Attica and ended up 19th, but sorted the problem out for Saturday as she claimed 2nd place with a last lap pass at Fremont as Bobby Clark took the checkers. Jason Keckler claimed two 10th place finishes on the weekend. Jimmy Colvin had a rough night at Attica not transferring to the A-main, but was able to follow that up with a 5th place finish at Fremont. Matt Merrill finished 14th at Attica and 20th at Fremont.

The Fremont/Attica Sprint Title points racing continues for the 410 sprints sprints on Friday, June 15th at Attica before returning to Fremont on Saturday, June 16th. Visit www.fastondirt.com to find out more about the Fremont/Attica Sprint Title, the drivers, rules, schedule, sponsors, and more.
