Pittsburgh) Danny Holtgraver spent his Memorial Day weekend on the road with some of the best sprint car teams on the planet. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina on Friday night, May 25th; competing with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series for one full night of competition. After a long evening with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt” at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, Holtgraver and the entire Kargo Quality Cars and Trucks operation traveled north to Fremont, Ohio for two full nights with the All-Star Circuit of Champions at Fremont Speedway. ‘America’s Series’ hosted two ‘Ohio Region’ events on May 26th and 27th; offering $3,000 to the winner on Saturday, and $10,000 to the winner on Sunday. Holtgraver had a ‘semi-successful’ weekend; suffering from a familiar case of ‘bad pills.’

“We had some tough luck with pills this weekend” explained Holtgraver about his Memorial Day weekend on the road, “On Friday night, we were just bad in qualifying, totally missing it…then, we pulled a really good pill Saturday, but the track was wet…then we pulled a terrible pill Sunday and the track was dry…just kinda missed where we wanted to be all weekend with qualifying.

In Charlotte, the ‘D4’ team would finish 15th with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. Holtgraver battled for a top 10 position during the televised event but would make contact with another car while racing for position. The former Lernerville Speedway Track Champion would settle for a top 15 finish at the conclusion of the 30 lap event. Things would then turn around for the Alternative Power Sources ‘D4’ 410 sprint car during the remainder of the weekend; turning two consecutive top 12 finishes with the All-Star Circuit of Champions at Fremont Speedway, after starting from the 10th row each evening. Holtgraver would charge from a 19th place starting spot to finish 11th on Saturday night at Fremont Speedway with the All-Stars. The full-time ‘Ohio Region’ competitor then repeated his hard charging effort Sunday night, and rallied from a 20th place starting spot to finish 7th during the $10,000-to-win All-Star finale at Fremont. The 13 position charge was good enough to make Holtgraver the ‘Hard Charger’ of the evening; passing the most cars during the 50 lap All-Star feature.

“We were pretty happy with our weekend” said Holtgraver, “Just some things here and there we need to work on and obviously had some bad luck with our pill drawings but other than that, we are pretty happy and hopefully we can make it out for the Outlaw events this weekend”

With two more All-Star Circuit of Champions ‘Ohio Region’ and ‘National’ events in the books, Holtgraver now finds himself 3rd in the ‘Ohio Region’ point standings, while climbing to 8th in the All-Star Circuit of Champions ‘National’ point standings. Holtgraver is roughly 40 markers behind former Knoxville Nationals Champion, Tim Shaffer, for  the runner-up spot in the ‘Ohio Region’ standings.

Up next for Danny Holtgraver will be a pair of World of Outlaws events in the Great Lakes region. The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will be visiting Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio on Friday, June 1st. After their one night program at Attica, ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt” will visit I-96 Raceway in Lake Odessa, Michigan. The entire ‘D4’ team plans to make the trip to Northwestern Ohio and Southern Michigan for the ‘Outlaw’ weekend.
