‘The Man From Austintown” has yet to finish outside of the top five in ‘Outlaw Sprint Warrior’ competition at Mercer Raceway Park. Justin Whitsell, an Austintown, Ohio native and Fully Injected member, is on a streak of almost five consecutive top five finishes at the 3/8’s mile oval, as he chases his first career Mercer Raceway Park track championship. The former winner in OSW competition in 2011, and graduate of AMA motocross, finished 4th in his most recent start at the Mercer oval, and currently finds himself 4th in the track standings; just 28 points behind leader Jim Morris.
“We were better than we finished!” explained Whitesell about this past weekend, “We were hoping for better than fourth…I think we had a shot at winning that thing on Saturday but just could not get around a couple cars…we will try harder this weekend!
This Saturday, May 26th, it will be business as usual for the Fully Injected no. 17. ‘Saturday Night Live’ action will pick back up at the Mercer oval after two consecutive weekend specials. The Outlaw Sprint Warriors will have a regular points program Saturday evening, with Whitesell looking to close the 28 point difference in the championship.
