Justin Whittall scores podium run during URC opener at Carolina Speedway

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

VINCENTOWN, N.J. (April 9, 2018) – Justin Whittall’s 2018 United Racing Club (URC) campaign kicked off on a solid note during the recent weekend, scoring a podium finish during the North/South Shootout at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, N.C., on Friday, April 6.

For Whittall, the podium run ties a career-best finish with the 360c.i. sprint car series, finishing third, officially, during the season opener against the best of the URC and the United Sprint Car Series (USCS).

The Vincentown, N.J., native, who was the evening’s highest passing points earner after charging forward from sixth to finish second during heat race competition, started from the pole position on Friday night during the North/South Shootout, but slipped to fourth after the initial green. Despite dropping off the podium, Whittall persevered and battled back, ultimately driving around Robbie Stillwaggon late in the event to snag the final podium position.

As a reward for his impressive passing display during heat race action, Whittall collected a $200 bonus on behalf of Bales Construction and FireAde, also earning the evening’s JE Pistons Young Guns Award.

“That was a lot of fun,” Justin Whittall explained, driver of the JW Motorsports/Atlantic Utility Trailer/Brotherton Brewing Company/Pioneer Auto Body/Worldwide Bearings/No. 67 sprint car. “To begin a season in that fashion is really motivating. Momentum and confidence play a huge part in anything you do. We’ve successfully achieved both of those. Hopefully we can put them both to work when we rejoin the URC at Bridgeport Speedway.”

With the URC event at Lancaster Motor Speedway in Lancaster, S.C., cancelled due to Mother Nature, Justin Whittall will move forward and continue his 2018 season with a visit to Bridgeport (N.J.) Speedway on Sunday, April 15. Just 45 minutes from his front door, the Bridgeport Speedway appearance will award full-points toward the URC championship. The North/South Shootout awarded URC show-up points, only.

“I can’t thank my family and all of my supporters enough for making this all possible,” Whittall continued. “We worked hard all off-season. I’m glad the hard work is paying off.”
