Kevin Schaeffer Leads Rod George By 16 Markers Going Into Final Point Race!

Kittanning, PA – 8/20/12 – Perhaps one of the most exciting sprint car point battles in recent history at Lernerville Speedway will finally come to a close this Friday night, August 24th, as the last ‘Fab Four’ event of the 2012 season will take shape; allowing Lernerville Speedway to crown a sprint car track champion. Kevin Schaeffer, a former three-time sprint car track champion at Lernerville Speedway, leads the charge heading into Friday night’s last point event. Schaeffer has a 16 point lead over fellow former Lernerville Speedway sprint car track champion, Rod George, in the Ti22 Performance Dirtcar sprint standings. Schaeffer has only finished outside of the top five once in 2012 at the Sarver, PA oval; which was a sixth place performance during the middle of the season. Schaeffer’s only win of the 2012 season came during opening night of competition. The Kittanning, Pennsylvania native plans to retire at the conclusion of the 2012 season.

Kittanning, Pennsylvania native Rod George also has one win at the Lernerville Speedway in 2012. The pilot of the familiar Doctor John Crawford ‘CIII’ entry has also been ultra-consistent in 2012 at the Sarver oval; staying alive in the championship hunt during the entire season. George will have one heat race and one main event this Friday evening to overcome the 16 point deficit. George, a 30+ year veteran in sprint car competition, is fifth on the all-time sprint car wins list at Lernerville Speedway, and owns three Lernerville track titles. If George is able to overcome the deficit and earn the 2012 track championship this Friday, it will be his 2nd crown in four years!

Greenville, Pennsylvania native and the most recent Lernerville Speedway winner, Eric Williams, sits third in the track standings entering the last night of the regular season. The 2011 Lernerville Speedway sprint car track champion, Carl Bowser, sits 4th; with North Jackson, Ohio native, Jack Sodeman Jr., rounding out the top five!
