Mercer, PA (July 18, 2012): This Saturday, open wheel enthusiasts will get their fill of top notch Sprint Car and Midget racing at Mercer Raceway Park when the annual Sprint Slugout will be presented courtesy of McCrudden Heating Supply Company. The event will pay a cool two grand to the winner of the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars! The Ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors will also compete for extra money. Joining these two divisions of Sprint Cars will be the exciting ARDC Midgets, in their first of two appearances at the track. The Precise Racing Products Stock Cars will again be operating under Mercer’s Open Stock rules, and they, too, will race for extra money on Staurday night.

Rod George won the last time out at Mercer and he would like nothing more than to scoop up the extra loot offered to the 410 Sprints this weekend. He will have his hands full, though, as Eric Williams has also been red hot lately. And, don’t forget that Mike Lutz is back in the Chappel number 8 and he already has a win since getting back in that car. Jack Sodeman, Jr., Brandon Spithaler, Brandon and Brent Matus, and a host of others will be there. Part of the fun, though, will be waiting to see who else comes rolling through the back gate to try to upset the Mercer regulars!

In the Outlaw Sprint Warriors, Mike Miller collected his second win of the season last weekend. He’ll be back, of course, along with Joe McEwen, Dennis Wagner, Justin Whitesell, C.J. Jones, Rob Felix, and many more. These Warriors are ferocious competitors and their races are always entertaining.

All competitors in both Sprint divisions will receive full points for their respective races. But, despite the extra money on the line, regular track lineup procedures will apply. So, if the most recent winners (i.e., George and Miller) are among the top 12 qualifiers, they will go to the post in the 12th position, and they will have to race their way to the front!

But, the special attraction will be the ARDC Midgets. Nick Wean, Tim and Bruce Buckwalter, Brett Arndt, Brenden Bright, Trevor Kobylarz, P.J. Gargiulo, Parker Evans and Dusty Heistand will be just a few of the hotshoes expected. Wampum’s Joe Butera, a former Mercer Sprint Car ace, will try to whip them all on his home turf. Come out and cheer for Joe, or pick one of the invaders and root him on to victory!

Curtis J. Bish and Rusty Moore will resume their rivalry in the Precise Stocks. Dan Lewis, Bob McCann, Matt Wagner, Russ Byler, and Brandon Johnston will be some of the drivers in the thick of the action, too! But, with the Stocks racing under the Open rules package, the extra money on the line may entice some other drivers to the track in the hopes of taking the gelt.

Due to the Open rules, the Stocks will not earn points this weekend, and their lineups will be determined in the typical Open Stock format.

The racing action will start at 7 p.m. and the gates will open at 4 p.m. Come out early to get your favorite seats.

The special event ticket pricing will apply for this fun-filled night of racing. Adults will be admitted for just $15, seniors for $13, and students for $7. Children ages 8 and under are free. Family passes will be available for the economical price of $32, which is good for two adults and up to four children of any age. it passes will cost $30.
