GETTYSBURG, Pa. (October 5, 2020) – Gettysburg, Pennsylvania’s Danny Dietrich was well on his way to a top-ten performance on Saturday evening during Williams Grove Speedway’s National Open finale when a sliced right-rear tire ended all of his forward progress.

Dietrich, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing, Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made, No. 48 sprint car, started 14th on the 40-lap, $75,000-to-win A-Main grid and drove himself to eighth with only nine laps recorded. Unfortunately, a cut tire during an ensuing double-file restart forced “Double-D” to retire to the work area. The former Williams Grove Speedway champion would return and recover to finish 18th.

A fourth-place finish during his respective heat solidified Dietrich’s spot on the National Open grid; there were over 50 cars in attendance.

“It’s disappointing, but nothing we can do about it now. We’ll regroup this week and prepare for two nights at Port Royal,” Danny Dietrich said, a 12-time feature winner in 2020. “I can’t thank my team enough for their hard work to get ready for these big races. I also want to thank the fans for coming out to support these events. We’re very fortunate to have the opportunity to race in front of such a dedicated group of fans. We enjoy every bit of it.”

Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing will rejoin the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on Friday and Saturday, October 9-10, during the two-day Nittany Showdown at Port Royal Speedway. Certainly no stranger to victory lane at the “Speed Palace,” having earned four feature victories over the last three seasons, “Double-D” will chase a total winner’s share equaling $23,000 during the coming weekend; $8,000 on Friday and $15,000 on Saturday.
