WAYCROSS, GA (September 21, 2013) – One of the biggest dirt late model events of the year is set to get underway at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA. The 10th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will kick off Thursday September 26th with three nights of racing concluding on Saturday September 28th. This crown jewel event will pay out over $270,000 over the three nights of racing. Both Thursday and Friday’s events will include LOLMDS Hot-Laps, RED BUCK Time Trials, LOLMDS Heat Races, B-Mains and a 25-lap $7,000 to win feature event. Saturdays events include LOLMDS Hot-Laps, D-Main, C-Main, B-Main and the 100-lap $40,000 to win feature event. Drivers will earn points in each of the two preliminary nights that will set the lineups for Saturday’s races. Last year’s mega event drew eighty (80) drivers from all over the country with Billy Moyer from Batesville, AR winning the first night preliminary feature, Mike Marlar from Winfield, TN winning the second night preliminary feature and Steve Francis of Ashland, KY winning the $40,000 main event on Saturday night.

Knoxville Raceway is located within the Marion County Fairgrounds in the heart of Knoxville, IA just 45 minutes southeast of Iowa’s capital city Des Moines. Knoxville Raceway is celebrating 60 years of racing this year at the historic facility that includes the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum just outside of turn two of the famed track. Knoxville Raceway is a ½ mile oval that provides some of the best racing action anywhere in the country. The massive main grandstands with a seating capacity of 24,172, suites, sky boxes, paved pit area, Musco Lighting, Jumbo Tron TV screen in turn three, huge vendor midway, camping and numerous other amenities makes this a must attend event for both racers and fans alike.

The award winning Lucas Oil Production Studios will also be on hand to film this crown jewel event that will air on three different TV Networks in 2013 including FOX Sports 1, NBC Sports and MAVTV. The main event from Saturday night will air a total of five (5) times in 2013 with re-airs on both NBC Sports and MAVTV. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series TV package is a joint effort by Lucas Oil Products, Team Lucas Partners and the series sponsors to make it possible to bring dirt late model racing to multiple TV Networks in 2013.

Many activities surrounding this year’s Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals are scheduled for fans and drivers to enjoy during the three day event. The Fan Midway and Trade show will be open all three days from 1 PM till 7PM each day with great merchandise vendors, driver T-Shirt Trailers, displays and great food. On Friday at 11:30 AM in the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum outside turn two, veteran motorsports journalist and TV commentator for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Dave Argabright will conduct a special interview with Hall of Fame driver Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR. Moyer the 2012 Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals Champion will give fans a look at his storied career, life on the road and his sons Rookie of the Year chase on the LOLMDS in 2013.

Saturday’s activities include a special Hall of Fame Auction held at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum. Items up for auction include driver and team donated items and fans are encouraged to visit the Sprint Car Hall of Fame Museum as well. Also on Saturday at 3PM, there will be a special meet and greet driver autograph session in the Dyer-Hudson Hall building directly behind the main grandstands. Last year’s driver autograph session ran for over two hours as hundreds of fans lined up to meet, talk and get pictures and autographs from more than 25 drivers. Fans are encouraged to bring their favorite apparel and photos for the drivers to autograph.
