WAYCROSS, GA (May 21, 2013) – The 21st Annual Lucas Oil Show-Me 100 – Presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com is ready with a full schedule of events and activities for fans to enjoy. This event will be the first true crown jewel event of the year for dirt late model racing. This event is shaping up to be one of the strongest fields of drivers from this weekend. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series current point’s leader and defending series national champion Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN will be one of the stars on hand for the 21st Annual Show-Me 100 – Presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com on Friday and Saturday, May 24th and 25th. Owens is also the defending Show-Me 100 champion and has won this event for the last two years. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Lucas Oil MLRA sanctioned event has a deep tradition of great drivers that have won the coveted trophy over the years.

In the rich 20-year history of the Show-Me 100, there have been nine different drivers that have been able to capture this crown jewel event. Of those nine drivers, six of them have won the event more than once. Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist, of Mooresburg, TN, leads all drivers with a record five wins in his career. Fellow Hall of Famers Billy Moyer and Wendell Wallace, both from Batesville, AR, are tied with three victories each in this annual crown jewel event. Bloomquist is the only driver in the history of the event to start all 20 previous races. Wallace is second in all-time appearances with 19, followed by Moyer with 16 starts, and Terry Phillips with 14.

“We’re excited about coming to the Show-Me 100 this weekend! It’s a great event and a great facility, no doubt! We’ve been running pretty good lately and really felt like we had a car capable of winning last weekend’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at Batesville Motor Speedway until I broke a suspension part in the right front while running in second place. We’re ready to go and we’ll be there Thursday for the MLRA $5,000 to win show and then try and win our fourth Show-Me 100 title and the $30,000 on Saturday,” stated Wendell Wallace, driver of the famous blue number 6M.

Drivers who have two Show-Me 100 trophies include Jimmy Owens; Hall of Famer, Freddy Smith of Seymour, TN; and Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC. There are three other previous winners who have single victories at this event and they include: Rick Aukland of Zanesville, OH ;Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA and Terry Phillips of Springfield, MO; the only “Show Me State” driver to have ever won the prestigious event, back in 1999.

“I always enjoy coming to this event and competing against one of the toughest field of drivers anywhere in the country. Forrest Lucas has really helped to grow this event into a great weekend of activities and has a great facility to hold a true crown jewel event of this magnitude. Having the event on CBS is huge and we’re hoping to get three in a row this year,” stated Jimmy Owens.

The Inaugural Show-Me 100 was held in 1993 at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO, under the direction of Don and Billie Gibson. After the Gibson’s retired and sold the race track, the event was moved to Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO in 2010. Forrest Lucas has committed to growing this annual crown jewel event into becoming one of the biggest events in the state of Missouri and the entire country. The Lucas Oil Show-Me 100 – Presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com will air on CBS, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, SPEED, and MAVTV for a total of eight air dates in 2013.

In addition to the $5,000-to-win event on Thursday Night, Lucas Oil Speedway has added an additional $10,000 to the total purse and increased the start money to $1,500 for the feature event. Lucas Oil Speedway officials and series officials are also excited to announce a new addition to this year’s schedule; The Midwest Sheet Metal Show-Me Challenge is new for 2013. The racers that do not transfer to the Show-Me 100 on Saturday Night through heat races or B-mains will get a chance to earn some extra money by racing in this new race. The 20-lap Midwest Sheet Metal Non-Qualifiers race will pay $2,000 to win and $250 to start. The winner of the Non-Qualifiers race can elect to forfeit the $2,000 first place money and tag the tail of the Show-Me 100 feature event for a chance to win the $30,000 first place prize.
Attending the Memorial Day Weekend Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway is becoming a long standing tradition and a true crown jewel event experience for fans and racers alike. Activities during the Show-Me 100 week at the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks”, Lucas Oil Speedway, include: Camping in the sprawling 40 acres of wooded and cleared campsites, Fishing at two lakes on the property, a huge Vendor Midway, Miss Show-Me 100 Pageant, Corn-hole Tournament, activities on the huge Lake Lucas, Bounce Houses, Kids Rides, Rock Wall, Go-Kart Track, Diamond Bar, Free Live Concerts, and much more!
