Pittsburgh, PA (9/25/2012) – Danny Holtgraver will have an opportunity to become fifty-thousand dollars richer this weekend when he faces off against ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ for the 50th Annual ‘Morgan Hughes National Open’ worth $50,000 to the champion. The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will invade the Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania this Friday and Saturday, September 28th & 29th, for two full evenings of National Open competition; and Western Pennsylvania’s Danny Holtgraver plans to be a part of that chaos. Holtgraver, who will pilot his own Kargo Quality Cars and Trucks/Alternative Power Sources ‘D4’ this weekend at the world famous half-mile, has raced with the World of Outlaws on a number of occasions already in 2012, and hopes to make the biggest splash of the season this weekend.

“We are excited to get back out to Williams Grove” said Holtgraver, “It’s a huge deal racing at the National Open…there is going to be a lot of talent there this weekend so hopefully we can make everything fall into place and earn a spot in Saturday night’s A-main!”

Action at Williams Grove Speedway this weekend will kick-off on Friday evening, September 28th, with a full World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series program. Friday night’s program will be highlighted with a 25 lap, $8,000-to-win main event for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. Racing action will continue on Saturday evening with the ‘Morgan Hughes National Open’ finale featuring the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. The $50,000-to-win main event will be 40 laps in distance. Jason Meyers is the defending champion of this prestigious event.

“We had a decent run during last year’s National Open” explained Holtgraver, “Our night ended in the B-main last year during the National Open finale, but we learned alot so hopefully we can find ourselves in the ‘A’ this year…it is so tough to make the show with the level of competition that is going to be there…it’s a great feeling to be on the same race track as these guys…hopefully things go our way and we can earn a spot in Saturday night’s A-main…maybe even find ourselves on the podium.”

Danny Holtgraver finished 10th during B-main competition at last year’s 49th Annual ‘National Open’ finale on October 7th, 2011. The former Lernerville Speedway Track Champion and All-Star Circuit of Champions ‘Ohio Region’ regular started 14th in the 12 lap B-main event, but was only able to gain four positions to secure a top ten finish. Only the top four drivers out of the evening’s consolation B-main were eligible to start the $50,000-to-win main event.

During most recent competition, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native was able to secure a starting spot in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series sanctioned ‘Commonwealth Clash’ at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 22nd. Holtgraver, who visited Lernerville Speedway victory lane with the All-Star Circuit of Champions in 2012, was scored 24th at the finish of Saturday night’s 35 lap, World of Outlaws main event. The 22-year-old was involved in an opening lap incident that forced the familiar ‘D4’ to retire for the remaining laps of the event. Dale Blaney would go on to earn the $10,000 victory.

“It’s been a great season for us and for everybody involved…finishing up front this weekend would certainly put an exclamation point on the year!”
