Brandon Matus climbs from 18th to 9th in Mercer Raceway Park’s 410 sprint car main event – 7-23-11.
The Clovis, California native, Jason Meyers, finally found victory lane at Williams Grove Speedway this evening with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. The 2010 World of Outlaws Champion started from the front row and dominated the 30 lap main event worth $20,000. He would hold “teammate” Stevie Smith, and Donny Schatz, at the line for the “Month of Money” victory. Stevie Smith was this evening’s fastest qualifier of the 45 entries. Jason Meyers and the rest of the Outlaws will now have to make the long trip north to West Lebanon, New York for tomorrow’s event at the Lebanon Valley Speedway. Donny Schatz currently sits on top of the World of Outlaws points race by one marker over tonight’s winner, Jason Meyers. Steve Kinser, Craig Dollansky, and Jason Sides round out the top 5 in the championship points race.
Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania, offered action for most of the Fully Injected team this evening (7-23-2011). Danny Holtgraver, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native, lead the Fully Injected competitors by way of best finish with a runner-up place finish at the Mercer 3/8’s mile bullring after starting in the 11th position. Kittanning native, Rod George, finished fifth; not far in front of teammate, Adam Kekich- the youngster from Hermitage, Pennsylvania and limited sprint car class graduate, who finished 7th after starting 13th. Perhaps the most impressive rally by any Fully Injected teammate tonight was that of the Wampum “Wheelman,” Brandon Matus; who started deep within the feature field, and would climb to a top ten finish. The 4th generation driver started 18th in the Mercer feature event; only to climb nine spots to finish 9th. Bob Felmlee was the evening’s winner at Mercer Raceway Park.
Unfortunately, 25 year sprint car veteran, Scott Priester, had some mechanical issues during the evening’s feature event; but still would finish just outside the top ten in 11th position. Danny Holtgraver and Rod George each earned heat race victories this evening as well.
Scott Priester, as well as the other FI competitors, will be back in action next weekend. Congratulations to the entire Fully Injected gang on their respective performances this weekend.
