Ringgold, PA (April 10th, 2013) – After spending countless weeks in their Western Pennsylvania race shop riding out the recent winter months with preseason preparations, Joe Martin, and the entire Joe Martin Motorsports (JM2 Motorsports) crate late model team, will finally have the opportunity to activate their 2013 season this Saturday and Sunday, April 13th & 14th, with two Western Pennsylvania events. Joe Martin will pilot his familiar JM2 Motorsports, Extreme Plastics Plus, Allegheny Crane Rental, George Washington Hotel, Spartan Thru Tubing, no. 55 crate late model during both events this weekend; beginning on Saturday afternoon, April 13th, at the Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pennsylvania. The familiar ‘55’ team will then round out the upcoming weekend at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon, April 14th. With the ‘winter’ temperatures still lingering in Western Pennsylvania, both programs will utilize mid-afternoon starting times to accommodate fans. Joe Martin enjoys competing at both facilities, and has plenty of confidence rolling into this weekend.

“I am really pumped about going to Pittsburgh and Lernerville this weekend” said Joe Martin, “They are both daytime races on tracks that are conducive to daytime racing…we want to win but we have a lot to learn about this new Wylie Race Car…this weekend will be a great way to test and tune for next weekend’s RUSH events at Roaring Knob and Hagerstown Speedway.”

Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway near Imperial, Pennsylvania will be the first stop this weekend for Joe Martin and the JM2 Motorsports team. The ‘Blast Off’ program at ‘PPMS’ will feature all of their weekly divisions; including the crate powered RUSH Late Models. Joe Martin has a rich history at the big half-mile located just minutes from downtown Pittsburgh; with his most recent victory at the speedway coming in August of 2012. Martin hopes to park his Ingram Engines powered Wylie Race Car in Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway victory lane this weekend, and start the 2013 season off on an extremely high note.

“We had one victory at Pittsburgh last year and it was a great win” explained Joe Martin, “There’s a lot of great guys who race there weekly, and I’m sure they will all be back there this weekend..we worked really hard this winter getting our Wylie car ready for the season…I guess Saturday will tell us if we made all of the right moves.”

Joe Martin will then make his way to the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon, April 14th, to help close out the upcoming weekend of competition. The ‘Steel City Stampede’ finale is on deck at the Sarver oval; with the FASTRAK Sweeney Cars Northeast Touring Division sanctioning the crate late model portion of the program. With much of the ‘Steel City Stampede’ program already completed, Sunday will feature a consolation and feature only for the FASTRAK Late Models. The ‘Steel City Stampede’ was originally scheduled for last October, but due to inclement weather conditions, only the event’s heat races were completed for the nine divisions in action. Martin qualified through his respective heat race last October, and is scheduled to start Sunday’s FASTRAK Sweeney Cars Northeast Touring Division main event from the tenth row. The FASTRAK main event will be 30 laps in distance, paying $2,000 to the winner. Joe Martin is certainly no stranger to Lernerville Speedway or it’s victory lane; as the Ringgold, Pennsylvania native picked up a ‘King of the Hill’ victory at the speedway back in 2012.

JM2 Motorsports will waste no time in April, and have plans to ‘hit the road’ as early as next weekend. Joe Martin will spend next Friday and Saturday, April 19th & 20th, on the road with the newly formed Sweeney Cars RUSH Dirt Late Model Series for two events; one in Pennsylvania and one in Maryland. The traveling crate late model circuit will visit the Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex on Friday evening, April 19th; before making the hike east to Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland on Saturday, April 20th. Both RUSH Dirt Late Model Series programs will pay at least $2,000-to-win; with many other contingencies on the line. Interestingly enough, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will also be making appearances at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex and Hagerstown Speedway on April 19th & 20th.

“Racing for some good money while in front of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series guys will really get this team amped up” said Joe Martin, “They are some of the best super late model guys on the planet, so getting the opportunity to race during the same schedule as them will make traveling a lot of fun…this will be our first trip to Hagerstown Speedway…I think it’s a track that fits my driving style, so I am really anxious to get there.”
