Jack Gunn Memorial Is Center Stage Friday At Williams Grove Speedway
31st annual event honors late promoter

Mechanicsburg – Williams Grove Speedway will present the 31st annual Jack Gunn Memorial for 410 sprint cars this Friday night, August 30 at 7:30 pm.
Run in honor of the late Promoter Of The Year, the 30-lap Gunn Memorial feature will pay a handsome $6,000 to win while also offering a lucrative $450 just to start.
Time trials will set the tone for the night’s qualifying and feature events.
Fireworks will also be part of the special event that is the next to last leg of the 2013 Diamond Series at Williams Grove.
As part of the Gunn holiday celebration a mechanical shark ride will be free to the public to try from 6 – 10 pm, Free Of Charge.
The Gunn Memorial race has been run annually every year since1983 in honor of the late, great, nationally recognized 1979 Promoter Of The Year Gunn, who not only guided ovals like Williams Grove to worldwide fame but who also at times during his career held the reigns of tracks like Penn National, Selinsgrove and Hagerstown, Md.
Over the years only the sports most elite drivers have driven to victory in the prestigious event.
Names like Bobby Allen, Doug Wolfgang, Dave Blaney, Kenny Jacobs, Don Kreitz Jr., Frankie Kerr, Lance Dewease, Stevie Smith, Fred Rahmer, Greg Hodnett and Daryn Pittman all dot the event win list. ‘
The defending Jack Gunn Memorial titlist is York’s Cory Haas.
Williams Grove Speedway will return just two nights later with the running of the Billy Kimmel Memorial on Sunday evening, September 1 at 7:30 pm.
The show will feature the 410 and 358 sprints using a regular format to set the feature lineups.
Lap money and bonus money will be in effect for the special Sunday evening holiday program.
Fireworks will also be part of the show.
