Lates, 410 sprints, pro stocks and enduro open 159th Juniata Co. Fair and three-event weekend!
Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway will open the 159th annual Juniata County Fair this Saturday, August 31 at 7 pm with the running of the Three State Flyers Series Butch Renninger Memorial for late models!
Plus, a full program of 410 sprints, pro stocks and an enduro dash will be on the program as well as the race for the 2013 point titles that will come down to the final races for all divisions during fair week.
The Renninger Memorial carries title sponsorship from Slivinski Law Offices of Selinsgrove along with associate sponsor Juniata Lumber Supply.
The track is in action three times over the Labor Day holiday weekend as it returns with the 62nd running of the Foss Jewelers Labor Day afternoon fair classic on September 2 featuring the 410 sprints and ARDC Midgets at 2 pm.
Sprints will vie for $4,000 to win and $300 to start in the Labor Day Classic.
JPH Enterprises and Juniata Lumber Supply are associate sponsors of the Labor Day program aside from title sponsor Foss’.
Sunday night will find the Interstate Truck and Tractor Pulls on the frontstretch of the oval beginning at 7 pm, sponsored by Dotterer Equipment, Juniata Lumber and Heimbach Enterprises.
The Renninger Memorial on Saturday will pay a hefty $3,333 to win the 33-lap affair and it also posts $33 to lead each lap of the track’s marquee event for the division this season.
A total Renninger Memorial base purse of over $14,000 is up for grabs aside from all the contingency money that also includes $33 to win heat races and a $100 Hard Charger Award.
Group time trials will set the late model starting grids.
Run in honor of late track champion Renninger, if one late model star is able to wire the Renninger Memorial feature for the prestigious victory, he or she will garner more than $4,400 for the win.
The race also pays $300 just to start.
Both the pro stocks and enduros will compete for increased purses as well.
Mark Pettyjohn, Jason Covert and Kenny Pettyjohn currently hold the top spots in 2013 Three State Flyers Series points.
Greg Satterlee is the defending event champion.
Adult general admission for the exciting show is just $18 with students ages 12 – 18 admitted for JUST $5.
H. D. “Butch” Renninger was a three-time Port Royal Speedway late model track champion who pocketed 41 late model wins at the track during his career on the speedway.
Renninger was also a dedicated track employee, fairboard member and concessionaire at the track for some 40 years.
