Rain Cancels PPMS Racing Action
B.O.S.S. Wingless Sprints Up Next On Schedule
PITTSBURGH, PA — The racing action at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway scheduled for Saturday, September 21st, was cancelled due to persistent rain. Racer Appreciation and Monster Wing Night activities will now be moved to Saturday, September 28th.
“The rain and thunderstorms that began in the morning continued into the early evening leaving us with no chance of getting the racing action in,” commented speedway owner Matt Miley.
The racer giveaways courtesy of Frankland Racing Supply, K&N Performance, American Diecast Company and Diehl of Robinson will be added to next week’s racing action. All participants in the Diehl of Robinson Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro-Late Models, Sunoco Race Fuels Late Model Sportsman, Miley BP Carwash Hobby Stocks and Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns will receive gift certificates from the marketing partners at next Saturday’s event.
Next Saturday’s racing action will include the B.O.S.S. Wingless Sprint Series as well as a full program for the Super Late Models, RUSH Pro-Lates, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby Stocks and Young Guns. In addition, speedway management has also decided to add the Pro 4 Division to the racing card on Sept. 28th and Oct, 5th. The Pro 4 Division will allow four cylinder competitors to compete as long as they are legal under their home track’s rules.
Pro 4 Rules will focus on car safety, belts, cage, helmet, fuel cell & fire suit. It is the responsibility of all drivers to bring their car to the tech area for a safety inspection prior to racing. The PPMS PRO 4 will be a no contact division during these trial events. Decisions of the race director are final, no appeals, any contact & all cars involved are subject to be sent to the pits, regardless of perceived fault! The goal in these divisions is to learn car control, don’t run into other cars! Drivers must be age 13 or older to compete in the Pro 4 division, drivers under 18 must be granted permission by Speedway officials to compete. YG drivers may RUN BOTH as long as the car is legal for YG competition.
The Pro 4 division will have a purse of $50 to win and $25 to start for this test to see how higher HP cars perform at PPMS. Should 10 or more cars show up it will be $100 to win, $50 for second, and $25 to start. Both divisions will receive trophies and will be eligible for occasional contingency awards.
More information on the Pro 4 Division will released shortly. Additional questions can also be directed to Matt Miley at mmiley99@comcast.net.
