DRIVERS COLLECT AWARDS DURING NAPA WAYNE COUNTY SPEEDWAY BANQUET

The Pines Golf Course Banquet Hall hosted the 2013 Napa Wayne County Speedway Point Championship Banquet on Saturday, November 16, 2013 with 200 guests in attendance to watch as 50 drivers in the five divisions receive their points monies and awards from the Contigency Connection. Andrew Palker of Lodi collected his second straight Fisher Performance Sprint crown as he totaled 7 top fives and one feature win and four heat wins in the nine points races. Although he had 8 top fives and four feature wins, missing one night of racing put Danny Mumaw in second for the season. Lee Jacobs and Broc Martin each had 6 top ten finishes with Jacobs pocketing third place by three points over Martin. Jason Dolick rounded out the top five as Bob Lime, Jimmy Pooler, Mitch Harble, Nick Patterson and Shawn Hubler.
Posting 7 top fives that included a feature win, Wellsburg’s WVa’s Corey Conley secured his first Lias Tire Late Model crown over 2004 champion Charlie Duncan who recorded 8 top tens. Four time track champ Brad Malcuit was third while Ryan Markham, a three time champ was fourth. Rick Bond finished out the top five with JR Gentry sixth as Doug Drown and Keith Berner tied for seventh with Blaine Aber and Larry Bellman rounding out the top ten.
Miamisburg’s Brandon Gardner scored 4 wins and 4 second place finishes in his 8 top tens to take top honors in the Thrifty Muffler Super Stocks. Jeremy Lynch notched 8 top tens to beat out last years champ, Brandon Craver for second with 1992 winner Bob Daugherty edging out Paul Whitten by six points for fourth. Tyler Nicely, Tony Cline, Chaz O’Dell, Larry Baldwin and Chase Alexander made up the rest of the top ten.
Powering his way to a feature win and four second place runs in his 7 top fives, Adena’s Chris Basich captured his first NAPA Modified crown. A late season charge got Mark Gardiner second over Nathan Loney as Bruce Miller matched last years fourth place points finish with Pauly Hess grabbing fifth. Filling out the top ten were Jim Nicely, Eric Singhaus, Mike Mizer, Tim Arnold and Hilton Eppley.
Jeff Barker of Mansfield chalked up 6 top tens to lock up his first WQKT Mini Stock crown as Mitch Reichard nipped Jason Shaw by two markers for second while Brad Hensel garnered fourth place. Adam Kern had two more points than Doug Hensel for fifth as Jimmy Fitzwater, Lester Berry, Blaine Markey and Randy Gibson finished seventh through tenth
The Mini Wedges had already received their awards on the last night of racing at the track as Logan Duncan pocketed the championship over Tanner McLoughlin, Billy Dawson, Danny Selway and Zoe Stafford followed by Brooke Dawson, Matthew Moore, Braxton Wilson, Kryssa Beagle and Mason Duncan.
Special Awards went out to Doug Drown with the Bully Dog Dominating Performer of the year while the Red Horse Performance Champion award went to Corey Conley. The JE Pistons Sportsman award went to Brandon Gardner with the Mallory Ignition Performance Winner going to Jeff Barker. The Scorpion Super Star Bonus was claimed by Andrew Palker and Chris Basich received the Performanceparts.com Top Performer award.
Special thanks went out to Dzugan Fire and Rescue for their sponsorship of the fast qualifier all year in the Fisher Performance Sprints, the Lias Tire Late Models, Napa Modifieds and the Thrifty Muffler Super Stocks and also to Saldana Racing Products, Fisher Performance, Summit Racing Equipment and VP Racing Fuels for their sponsorship of all the heat races.
A big thanks to Alan Hutchinson for his work on the Banquet program, the slide show and the pictures of the champions cars each driver received.
Some plans for the 2014 season include going to Saturday night racing, three UNOH All Star Sprint shows, a Summer Sizzler Series with Attica Raceway Park for the Late Models with each track holding four races and a separate point fund for that series. The Renegade of Dirt Modifieds will return with the ICON Memorial Series and the BOSS Wingless Sprints will be back. Dates for the complete schedule will be released after the first of the year.
The regular shows for 2014 at Napa Wayne County Speedway will consist of the Sprints, Late Models, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks and Mini Wedges. For the latest updates, keep checking the website at www.waynecountyspeedway.com
