Big Game Motorsports Driver Craig Dollansky Second in Huset’s Debut
Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (May 20, 2014) – Big Game Motorsports driver Craig Dollansky was in contention for a pair of podiums last weekend.
“Overall I think there were some positive things that we can build on as we continue to work on our program,” he said. “We’re still working on getting our race car where we need it to be at Knoxville.”
Dollansky opened the weekend last Saturday by qualifying sixth quickest at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. He then charged from fifth to second place in his heat race to lock the Big Game Treestands car into the main event, which it started on the inside of the second row.
“In the feature we weren’t real good,” he said. “We were riding along in third and then we had a pin fall out of the Jacob’s Ladder, which turned our car into a mess.”
The incident on the third lap made the car sporadic, said Dollansky, who held on to a ninth-place finish on the half-mile track.
“The Jacob’s Ladder is what holds the rear end into place,” he said. “It definitely made it an absolute handful for the rest of the race.”
On Sunday, the Big Game Treestands team made its season debut at Huset’s Speedway, where Dollansky qualified second quickest around the high-banked track. He then advanced from sixth to fourth place in his heat race to lock himself into the main event, which the Big Game Treestands car started fifth.
“We got qualified decent and got through our heat race in a transfer spot,” he said. “I got from fifth to second in the feature early. It’s unfortunate the track rubbered up and was follow the leader. We learned some things there we can build on for next weekend.”
Dollansky finished with a second-place result on the rubber-down track.
The Big Game Treestands team will return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday and to Huset’s Speedway this Sunday.
